Around the world today Christians are being persecuted for their faith. More than 70 million Christians have been martyred for their faith since 33 AD. This year an estimated 160,000 believers will die at the hands of their oppressors and over 200 million will be persecuted, arrested, tortured, beaten or jailed. In many nations it is illegal to own a Bible, share your faith, change your faith or allow children under 18 to attend a religious service.
Nations where Christians are frequently persecuted include…
Afghanistan Cyprus Maldives Sri Lanka
Algeria Egypt Mauritania Sudan
Azerbaijan Equatorial Guinea Morocco Syria
Bangladesh Ethiopia Myanmar (Burma) Tajikistan
Bhutan India Nepal Tibet (China)
Brunei Indonesia Nigeria Tunisia
Chechnya Iran North Korea Turkey
Chiapas Iraq Oman Turkmenistan
China Kuwait Pakistan United Arab Emirates
Colombia Laos Qatar Uzbekistan
Comoro Islands Libya Saudi Arabia Vietnam
Cuba Malaysia Somalia Yemen

well, there are a couple of reasons
nearly every religous group (or actually any group) like to believe that others (outsiders) do not understand them and persecture them (this increases solidarity and closeness in the group)
also, Christians have had their share of persecution (like most religions and many groups at one time or another) so they have the historical perspective
and finally, there is an actual christian teaching that to suffer for the sake of their religion or their God is a good thing, so there is a certain limited desire for persecution
I DON'T see that it is fair to accuse Christians of spreading fear all the time
they don't seem to spread any more fear than anybody else
right now certain people are doing way better at fear-spreading in the name of Islam
also, Environmentalists have begun to operate much like a religion and their may tenet seems to be the spread of fear
usually, Christians seem to be talk about their persectutions and willingness to undergo persecution without bothering others people much at all
Christians bother people when they are trying to help them (as they see it) to a better life and afterlife through christianity
in the end, Christians seem about average for any group in terms of claiming persecution and spreading fear
most of the groups that come to my mind (I've listed some) all have their persecution complex and fear-spreading tendencies
muslims
american liberals
american conservative
most ethnic groups
jews
rural peoples
handicapped people
these are groups I see making news, in your area and life there are probably different groups but I bet they act similarly

The use of fear is a great way to get people into the pews. Just tell them that there is something terribly wrong with them. Not just them, but all humanity. Then tell them that you have the only cure for all the things that go wrong for them in their lives. Add a lot of mythological window-dressing, keep up the fear of the outside world, and make sure there is an identifiable enemy for them to hate and *poof*! Count the donations as they roll in!
I am reminded of a cartoon featuring two men, one obviously a christian. The christian repeatedly raps the other guy on the head with a ruler. The fellow rubs his head and asks, "Um...could you please stop that?" The Christian screams, "I'M BEING PERESCUTED!"

okay think about it like this....as a christian I go to church on Sunday. On the job applacation it says that the emlopyer doesn't discrimite for race religion and a couple other thing. When I put on that applaction that I will not work sunday I don't get the job but then if my cousin who has the same everything as me school history, work history except she is not a christian but wiccian, fills out the same applacation and states that her coven meets on saturdays and will not work on saturdays becuase of this she gets the job. When I was in high school their was a group of jewish kids at my school, they were allowed to wear their little hat things (sorry I am not saying it taht way to offend anyone I just don't know what it is called.) But I got sent home from wearing a shirt that had a cross on it. Also in the same high school a group of three other girls and myself bowed our heads quitely (without drawing attation to our selves) to ask grace before our lunch and we were told that if we countined to do this that we would be in danger of being suspened or arrested but yet the two praticing muslims could bring thier (again I am not trying to upset anyone I just do not know the correct term) little rolled up rug things and roll them out and pray even if we were in the middle of class. I do not think I am in a group that is on the verge of extinction but I do believe that because so many christians have sat back and just took it for so long that some people think that its a big joke. If my wiccan cusin or the muslims and jewish kids at school would have had the same things done to them that happened to me. They would have said that it was infrindging on their right to freedom of religion. If they are going to have it I believe that those of us who prictice the bleiefs this country was founded on oh so many years ago, should have that same freedom to practice our religion. I don't know what you may call it but if this is not discrmination than what is it...if this is not discrmination why are the people who are on the other side not sent home, told they can't pray or not given the job becasue there is one day that they will not work??? Just a little question, to make you think, maybe not but just ponder it for a moment.

"TRUE" Christians are being persecuted,But contrary to popluar
belief do not feel on the "brink of extinction"True Christians are
happy to be so persecuted, because then we know thats what
Christs followers must suffer. As far as living in fear of dying, true
Christians are the least fearful of a death in this system of things
of anyone , because of the hope of the ressurection and the prom-
ise of life everlasting on a paradise earth.True christians do not
spread fear and hopelessness on the contrary, they spread the
good news of Gods kingdom through Jesus Christ.Chrisendom
and false teaching are ones responsable for spreading lies and
fear in the world today through the father of the lie satan the devil.
1John.5:19 says "the whole world is lying in the power of the
wicked one"At John14:30 Jesus refers to him as the "ruler of the
world" At EPH.2:2 Christ tells his disciples"you at one time
walked according to the system of things of this world, according
to the ruler of the authority of the air,the spirit that "now" operates
in the sons of disobedience" so you see true Christians need
not fear.Because we have the truth of Jehovah God and his son
with us at all times. please see www.watchtower.org.

We dont think it. We just know its true. Everything that has to do with religon esp. Christitans are getting extinct (for lack of a better word) and everything or everywhere that we go, we can't show anything og God, in schools we can't say pledge of aligencwe without problems with the parents. No ten commandents in work place. No bible reading without getting in trouble or told to put it away. But also my cuzin can't wear a shirt that says "Got Christ?" without geting told to take it off. And the bigggest ones are that the world has used Christmas and Easter to hide hat the real meaning is. We teach kids that Cristmas is about getting presents and when it should be about when Jesus was born. Or when Easter comes and they teach kids that Easter is all about finding eggs and about coloring them, but it is really about the day that Jesus was ressurected.

To those that have know idea, we are not afraid of anything except disappointing God. Not that we think that God is some big bogeyman out to get us. FAR FROM IT. He LOVES US and wants only the best for us, a lot of the time what we think is best for us in really not. And I do not spread fear, but I do spread the truth. and IF that scares you, it is not my fault.

Their religion is based on such poppy c*ock, that anytime they are threatened with the truth, they can be brought to bear arms against their fellow mankind. It's a shame really. If they could only see that the door to God is always open. The fantasy has ended, let the games begin.

It's a tool used by Christian politicians and leaders to strike fear into the hearts of the Christian population, make them think that "something needs to be done, and you can help the heathens not take over by voting for me!"
