God-fearers in ancient days were people who lived among Jews and participated in some of the Jewish traditions. Because of dietary prohibitions, Jews cannot eat in homes where food is not prepared in accordance with Jewish law, but the God-fearers ate and prepared food in the Jewish tradition in order to socialize with Jews without converting to the religion.

You didn't fear your dad, you were afraid of him. The word 'fear' means in awe, highly respected, appreciated......etc. Your dad was a tyrant and look what the cat dragged in.... another of it's kind.
