You can start by changing her food to a lamb rice mixture if you haven't done that already. You can also add a tsp of flax seed oil to her food daily as well as a special "wellness "mixture supplement with her food.(About 1 tsp) of this dry mixture.( I forgot the name, sorry). Check your health food store to see what they have.We also read that if you soak the dry dog food mixture in extra water until it's soft it helps the dogs digest the food more easily. How a pet digests food can affect their skin and coat.If you give it time it will eventually get better. Make sure you're using a good flea protection too like Frontline. Theres a natural flea protection product called "Critter oil" thats a concentrate. You add it to water and spray it on the dogs fur.Fleas cause all sorts of nasty allergies in dogs.Good Luck.

U are not stating what kind of allergies your dog has but the most common allergies in dogs are food allergies and allergies to fleas.
Benadryl can be given to dogs, but the best thing is finding out what is the cause of the allergies.
Change the dogs food to a non corn, soy, grain based dog food. Innova evo is a good dog food to start.
If the dog is eating science diet, every dog i ever had that ate this food was allergic to it and it acquired allergies to the food.
Science diet is an expensive over rated food, and is not good. The only reasons vets promote this food is they get a 40 percent profit on what they sell.
Any grocery store or farm supply food is not good either. You have those foods like olroy and dads and many others that have tested positive for the chemical they use for euthanizations in diseased livestock and dogs and cats. Food is the biggest factor in allergies.
good luck with your dog, until you determine the cause of the allergies then it cannot be treated properly.

Oh gosh. You should have thought about vet bills before you got a dog. You should cough up the money at least this once and take her to a vet. Explain to the vet that you don't have a lot of money and want to know about home remedies. He or she will tell you what you can do specifically for your dog, depending on the nature of the allergy. He may even give you a discounted price or let you go on a payment plan. Also if they tell you what medications you need he can give you a prescription and you can order it for less on the Internet.

My dog has severe allergies too. Amtriptylline (a little blue pill) 10mg. is prescription thru the vet but it is only $10. My vet doesn't charge me for revisits. He only refills the prescriptions as long as I keep up with my dog's shots. I was told by another vet that dogs can have benydryl. Small doses.

Have you identified the allergens? Food or grass or laundry detergent or whatever? It might be a simple matter if changing foods or switching your detergent.
Food allergy testing can be done at home. If you would like to know how e-mail me through Yahoo!Answers.

Benadryl really is the best answer. I was told by my vet to use regular Benadryl pills and we give our dog (who weighs about 60 lbs) one pink 25mg pill whenever she starts licking her paws.
Hope this helps you and good luck!

if your sure it is allergies give her one Benadryl. It will not hurt her. We had a english Bulldog with allergies and that is what we gave him. wrapped it up in cheese. Loved it and it worked.
Hope it helps.,
oh, it was told to us by the breeder and vet to give it to him so we did not medicate on our own.
Good luck

baby benadryl works the best. My dog has allergies too and I give her liquid baby benadryl. I believe you give them 1 ml for each pound they weigh, but double check that with your doctor. It makes them a little drowsy but it does help.
