Depends on whether they put the scope in you or if they went in with the knife. My supervisor had an appendectomy where they used the scope and just made two tiny incisions. She was completely healed after about three days. I had mine removed under the knife, and was out for two weeks.

I was off my feet for almost two weeks, but I had an infection set in, which slowed my recovery. Once I got back on my feet, it was another 3 to 4 weeks before I was able to do everything I was able to before. Also, if your incision is sutured closed as opposed to open and packed with gauze which needs to be changed 2 to 3 times daily, you will bounce back quicker. Finally, your overall health before the operation will also determine your recovery time. Generally speaking, the healthier you are, the faster you will recover. Good luck, I hope it all goes well.

Recovery time depends on several things. One, what sort of incision was used? Two, was the appendix ruptured, therefor the surgery? Three, what is your pain tolerance? Both of my girls had emergency appendectomy's, and the oldest took about 3 full weeks to feel 'normal' again. My youngest was up and going again after about 1 1/2 weeks.

A couple of weeks minimum. Any invasive procedure, whether done by Laparoscopic or otherwise, takes time for you to heal inside. Take it easy. Avoid lifting, but don't give in to favoring or protecting that side. My doctor told me I was leaning toward that side and I wasn't even aware I did it.
