You're quite right! I had always classed the smell as biscuit based, but had never been able to pin the odour down to a specific source until now. As to the reason, I think probably a penchant for cheap meats, mixed with the odourous effects of the increasing difficulties people find in maintaining their personal hygiene in old age.

And to Optimus Prime - if you have never experienced a cornish pasty, then you obviously do not understand what an astute observation our friend has made here.

Cornish pasties smell of a mixture of onion swede and cabbage. They are the main ingredients inside the pastry. Give old people a break - many young people smell like this as well, though that is caused by pheromones and sweat.

I`m a pensioner and I don`t smell like a Cornish pastie ,perhaps it`s yourself your smelling ,

I have noticed they smell of cabbages. Maybe they have different diets in different places. Or in the case of cabbages perhaps their socks are washed in cabbage water. And perhaps Cornish pasties are prone to missing the mouth and end up down their fronts. PS I am a pensioner and I stink to high heaven ! You'll be old yourself one day.

no idea cause i always thought they smelt like pee! but next time i see one i'll smell and see if they do, smell like cornish pasties! lol
