Amnesty is another word for erasing a crime. Prosecutors have used that technique in exchange for one member of a group (gang, etc) to tell all they know about the rest....forgiveness by giving information.

In the case of illegals, it is the proposed "forgiving" of their being here. Legal Americans are pretty upset with the concept of amnesty for illegals and that is why you see so much in the news and on forums as this...about the subject.

u mean amnesty? i think it is where a country deciedes to legalise everyone who came after a certain date/ year irrespective of their status...i think

there's 'amnesty' and there's 'amity', but never heard of 'amtity'
