I agree. Stereotypes stick. There may be a few bad apples but that's true of any walk of life, not just religion.
These days Christian-bashing is almost an Olympic sport, and personally I'm tired of it. A lot of it's payback on the part of the writer/director who feels they have a grudge against someone.

"I am not suggesting that some Christians haven't been involved in illegal or immoral activities..." I would think it is more along the lines of most. Christianity has not had strict adherence to the teaching of Christ since the time of the Apostle Paul, who said he thought he had worked for nothing, because they were returning to their old ways of celebrating the holidays and rituals of men. If he felt he was failing then, just years after the death of Christ, how much worse is it now, nearly 1900 years later?
The attacks are warranted in that we do not do anything about the ones who profane the teaching of Christ. We glamorize the activities of the mafia, instead of linking them, and any church that serves them, as the followers of Satan. We think its okay for today's churches to become dens of money exchange, like the Temple of Bible times. And, we expect others to preach to us, rather than learn the Bible, preach the Bible, and teach it ourselves, as Christ instructed us to. Do you ever see movies portraying Jehovah's Witnesses as being immoral and involved in illegal activities? No, because they don't get involved in the things of the world. In the residential buildings for the factory volunteers in Manhattan, they don't even allow retail businesses to be place on the first floor along streets, despite demands by the city to do so.

Your question touches on a topic of media ethics which certain, must be questionable at circumstances. Objectivity is a wanted trait in that marketplace, yet also their pastime is to fireplace up emotion in those who pay interest. they're going to sift by the 1000's of reports that go their desks on a daily basis, and %. per chance 5 or 6 matters. those that are "newsworthy" (there's a criteria for this) are those in many circumstances chosen. The media has been prevalent also to be barred from particular advice as well. Governments "classify" advice and in many circumstances at the same time as that's "declassified" the media could have it. some issues are not any further declassified. non secular authority do no longer have this luxurious. they are open to scrutiny from favorable and detrimental substances.

I totally agree!!! If the media would bash gays, lesbians, muslims, atheists etc. the way they bash Christians, we would most likely have riots in the worst imaginable ways. At the very least there would be all kinds of lawsuits! So why does the ACLU not choose to defend our rights as well as other interest groups. I believe we all know the answer to that question!!
OK - I feel a little bit better now that I have vented a little steam - - -

I feel every religion in the entire world gets unfairly maligned! We all need to shut the hell up! For Real! Just go to your church, hang with your church members and that goes for all of the other religions too! Just leave God or No God the hell alone. If there is a real God I am so sure he is sick the hell of us on this planet acting like one is so much better then the other. All of you from the quote from the movie Bad Boys when Martin Lawrence told Will Smith "Go have a coke and a smile!" That's what the hell we need to do instead of worrying about who's religion is right or wrong!

A few minutes of research will show you that your premise is false. Have you watched Daystar, TBN, EWTN or any of the other xian cable channels? What about the Hallmark Channel? What about the surge in xian movies and music? Chronicles of Narnia? Passion of the Christ? Every Sunday you can't go 3 channels without seeing some preacher spewing his nonsense.
Xians are portrayed as the best of the best while non-believers are either ignored or they are always the bad guy. With the emergence of FOX FAITH I am sure the xians will be even more glorified while everyone else will be portrayed as fools.

I agree, but I think this is unavoidable for 2 reasons:
1. The Bible is clear that Christianity will be quite unpopular, moreso as the end times near; and
2. Christians have brought some of this on ourselves by preaching a man-centered gospel in the last 100 or so years, producing TONS of false converts who call themselves Christians, who have done irreparable harm to the name of Christianity.

If you think that's bad, look at how movies portray anyone who is of another religion. There is bigotry for everyone.
