A story told by a first person narrator uses the pronoun "I". It's not necessarily autobiographical; the author has just chosen to tell the story this way, as in, "When I was 21, I met the love of my life."

External conflict refers to conflict between the protagonist and the antagonist. For example, in Jack London's "To Build a Fire," the external conflict is between the man and the environment.

Internal conflict refers to conflict or mixed emotions within the protagonist. He struggles with issues within himself. A story about addiction might be an example of the use of internal conflict.

Hope that helps!

First-Person Narrative
Narration in the first person — the grammatical term for I (first-person singular) and we (first-person plural) — is a narrative told by a character involved in the story. When the narrator uses "I" and describes his or her own experience, thoughts, or feelings, the work is said to be in the first person.

CONFLICT

1. Conflict exists on two levels: internal and external.
2. Internal conflict is the battle between what the character wants to do and what the character must do.
a. Human nature wants to avoid difficult or unpleasant situations.
b. Conflict forces character to choose between the easy road and the hard road to achieve a goal.
c. Motivation determines what character will gain or lose by making the choice.
d. Characters must have a strong reason to stay in a situation they would rather avoid.
e. If they aren't in a situation they want to avoid, there is no conflict, and no story.
3. External conflict is the external problem that is standing in the way of the the character and his or her goals. The problem can be a natural disaster, loss of a job, death of a loved one, etc.
a. It must be a conflict the character can't resolve, can only deal with.
b. Goals must be so strong they cannot be abandoned in the face of this situation.
c. The external conflict can also be a collision of the hero and heroine's goals.

You are correct about Internal Conflict and External Conflict, It could refer to Wars also. Civil War would be an internal conflict, similar to what is happening in Thailand now. External conflict would be a War between Nations.

Also you may have an Internal conflict if you Mother in Law were to go over a Cliff in your new car,
(Just thought I would throw that one in to ease the internal conflict you are having right now.)

Narration in First Person is when you are telling of your own experiences. Second or third person is when you are describing the actions of someone else.

Hope this helps.
