Ha-ha...I used to keep a flask of a higher proof vodka with me to help get thought family funtions. It seems to leave a little less smell on your breath and mixes with most anything. I'm partial to Stolichnaya (if you can find the higher proof version), but the higher proof Smirnoffs is ok if you just want to take the edge off. Now...on to tequiila.
As far as quality and flavor goes, it at least partly depends on how much you want to spend I guess. I like Cabo Wabo personally. Smooth enough to drink with out training wheels (salt and lime, in case you didn't know). For a less expensive but still acceptable tequila, give Jose Cuervo Traditional a try. the flavor is very different from regular Cuervo. (this is what I use to make margaritas with). If you just have to mix it with something other than making margaritas...just drop a shot into some lemonade.
Hope that helps.

Well most tequila in US is 80 proof so they will all have the same effect basically in getting you "tipsy" but the difference will be the taste first and then the next day. Premium tequila (not Cuervo) will be a nice tasting spirit that you can enjoy sipping, as chaser you can use sangrita, beer, coke and many other things, I like watter.
Some premium tequilas you can try are Tesoro, Don Julio, Herradura and Casa Noble, this last one being my favorite, you should try it...
