OK, I'm bored once again at work, so I'd like to hear about the silly or weird routines you have with your child -- the one who puts the biggest smile on my face gets 10 points. I'll start with one of my own...
Lots of kids have security blankets, but in our house "Blankie" has almost become an imaginary friend of sorts. My son and I pretend that Blankie talks to us, and we often translate other subjects into Blankie-terms (e.g.; we'd been talking about the Tooth Fairy recently, and when the manufacturer's tag fell off Blankie, my son said that "Blankie lost his 'baby tag'", and that the Tag Fairy would soon bring him his "grown-up tag"). If I think my son needs some quiet time, I'll loudly announce, "Blankie and I are going to read a story!" and he (my son) will usually curl up on the couch with Blankie and me. We've also learned from my son that Blankie's favorite foods are cotton balls and string (sorta like spaghetti and meatballs).
Your turn -- what you got?

We have the magic screwdriver. My grandma used to do this with my mom and my mom with us now we all use it on our kids. When we have grumpy faces in the house, out comes the magic screwdriver to turn the frown upside down. I take my pinkie and start twisting it back and forth declaring the magic screwdriver is going to get them. Never fails to get a smile.
Another is the don't smile game. We tell who ever is grumpy not to smile...don't you dare smile... I mean it mister.. don't even think about it. The whole time we make faces at them. The end results are pretty predictable.
My daughter has made up this garblie goo language of her own. The hilarious part is when my boyfriend starts doing it with her. They sound like they are actually having a conversation.

I'm a mother(age 33) of seven children(the oldest is 15,the youngest is 2).We have different 'rituals' at home with all of them.Sometimes in the evening,I turn on the music(I make it too loud),turn off the lights and light some candles. We make a 'discoteque' for 10-15 minutes, during the time,we dance like rockers!Sometimes when we all hurry to do something or we just don't have a rest and do anything quickly,I(or one of the kids) say "Time out!" and that means we all have to stop hurry and do everything too slowly. It's very funny to see someone turning on the TV at the time - they go slowly, turn it on slowly and go back to the sofa as if they couldn't move easily!Five minutes later we get back to normal speed.Another 'ritual' at home is "Grumbly".This is one ugly fluffy rabbit. When someone of the family is mad or angry with someone else,he/she gets Grumbly and he/she can throw it or yell at it etc.If he/she needs to express his/her feelings,he/she goes to the person who has hurt his/her feelings and gives him/her Grumbly. That's how the other person knows that someone is angry with him/her and he/she can try to understand why and eventually apologize to the angry one. These are just a few of our over 30 'rituals' and now I remember them, but these are not all:)Anyway a ritual at home is a very nice experience:)

A while ago my son was having trouble going to bed. So to get him to calm down I drove him around the barns to look at the horses. He usually fell asleep after looking at them. So now whenever he is tried, but doesn't want to go to bed he'll say "I wanna see the horsies" while yawning and rubbing his eyes.
I always sing to him while laying in his bed before he falls asleep. I usually sing slow hymns. His favorite one has the word Holy in it a few times. So now when he's really tired he says "holy holy holy...night night mommy".
Also, we play football a lot. I tease him when he has the ball by knocking it out of his hands while saying "get outta my house"!
He thinks it's hilarious and does it all the time. One time at dinner I was handing him a roll and he knocked it out of my hand and screamed "Out my house!" It was great!

I have one son and one daughter. The favorite question around the house is "Who's my favorite boy or Who's my favorite girl?" My kids just love it! I also kiss the palms of their hands when they are going to be away from me for awhile and tell them if they miss mom they can touch their cheeks with their palms and get a kiss from me.

Heck I've got all of them. I do similar with my little daughter; like she would [if left to her own devices] think on the negative. Now that's not good for them. Anyhows, I use every technique in the book to get her to think on the positive. let's see, yea, I just say to her 'imagine the concept of happiness'. She does, and it's as real as any other thought to our subconscious mind. It makes her happy. There's *masses more* but it would take a book.

We all (I've got three boys) lay on the couch upside down and try and read our books with our feet to make the youngest laugh and get into reading...and 6 months later, we are all reading upside down, with blood red faces.
