i know you say "women only", but listen... DON'T buy her jewelry for the first date. DO NOT. i can't stress that enough. go to a gas station and buy her a flower. one. if you want to do more, hide it in her pocket if you can. then later tell her she may want to check her pockets. do something kinda clever like that IF you really really like her. if the simple gesture is not enough, forget her. if you buy her jewelry, or a boucquet of flowers, she may think you're coming on too strong. or you'll make yourself her sugar daddy, and it will be your fault when she uses you for money. these "women only" may think it's real sweet what you want to do, and they may be right, but you'd better be careful. put your toes in the water and see how warm it is before you dive in. get it?

If you are picking her up at her house she can put them in a vase before you leave. You're right carrying them around all night is a pain. If you do want to bring her something else, the necklace is probably too much for a first date. A CD with music you both like would be less intense. Have fun!

If you are afraid that she wouldn't want to carry flowers....um how about you stop off and buy her some after the date?
I think the necklace is a little much for the first date.

I think flowers would be better because a necklace seems like too much for a first date. You could always carry the flowers for her all night. Or you could get there for her at the end of the night to solve that issue.

It's a first date, gifts aren't necessary...if you'd like to buy her a single flower as a token of affection or appreciation at the end of the date (to send her home with) that might be a nice gesture...
Flowers at the outset (if you are meeting somewhere) would indeed be awkward to tote around all evening...and jewelry for someone who is pretty much a stranger to you, is a bit overboard...

Definitely do not get a necklace. Not on a first date!!!! No way. That's too much. You don't have to bring flowers to her especially if you are walking around the city, etc. Just bring yourself and a smile. Hold the door for her, etc. Just do gentleman things. Trust me you don't have to get her anything. If she is materialistic anyway you don't want a girl like that. She should be able to like you based on your personality and body language!

dont do a necklace, when u buy woman jewery u have to pick the right thing. and it can be very expensive; plus thats more of a serious relationship type present. for ur first date, i think the best thing for u to bring her is a single flower, like a white rose or another type of pretty flower. that way it's not too expensive and i find it to be really sweet and charming

Is there a flower shop in the area of the restaurant to act upon a gift, to stop by after dinner, swing near the flower shop, have her wait in the car, then come out with a bouquet, as a spontaneous gift. If the dinner doesn't go well, do not go to the flower shop. Spice up your date!

A NECKLACE IS NICE, BUT IT'S A LITTLE TO FORWARD FOR A FIRST DATE., UNLESS YOU HAVE KNOWN HER FOR QUITE SOME TIME. GIVE HER THE FLOWERS AND LEAVE THEM IN THE CAR. YOU MIGHT SCARE HER WITH A SILVER NECKLACE, BUT IT'S A BEAUTIFUL THOUGHT. IF YOU GO OUT AGAIN, GIVE HER THE NECKLACE. YOU SOUND LIKE A WONDERFUL GUY, THEIRS NOT MANY OF YOU AROUND, HAVE FUN ON YOUR DATE.

Jewelry first date, lol, you're crazy, than she's only going to expect more. If you gave her jewelry on the first date, what would you give on the second?
Buy her flowers, buy them in a vase, they can be in water, in the car while you walk.
