Because, I think many people on here are looking to broadcast their opinion. A serious, well thought out question doesn't allow you to do that. A serious question forces you to think, anaylze yourself, think some more, and then answer with a well thought out answer. A stupid question gives you an easy way to get your opinion out in the open and show people that you are obviously right and they're wrong. Furthermore, a stupid question often elicts much stronger emotional responses, because they are worded in a less than fair way. But a serious question often took much thought before being posed, and therefore will be better worded and less likely to piss people off...
