Hey Roopal,
A family tree starts with you as the trunk. If it is interpretive you want, you could paint yourself as the trunk of a tree. When you branch to two branches that are your parents. And so on...
Our you can take your real tree information, and do a decoupage
My Tree is done with a Family Tree package, I have a background of the Mayflower with the nodes for information of the people in the shape of a Fan. I am in one corner.
every family tree has people and branches where parents are, you could also indicate siblings, you could use fruit shapes for the people with their names and Birth dates
You could do an Arrow, where you are on the point, and each subsequent generation is below
You could do a pyramid (like cheerleaders do) of people, depict how you want.
This is art, so you have to interpret the ideas, but there are a few. Have fun with it - remember Art has feeling - you should have feeling for your ancestors as you put them into your art!
One last thought, my wife's Grandmother is almost 100. On her 95th birthday, the family make a mural by having each family member as a descendant, put their hand print on the paper, it was really a nice tribute to a wonderful woman.

i had a commision to do this type of thing some time ago, one concept i though but did not use was a painting that was like a mirror.....in the central part it was clear and that was close family as the family became more distant the art that surrounded them became less distinct until the far reaches of the family were just outlines/ghosts..l saw this as a collage where photos were avaliable then painting/drawing where it was hearsay evidence...as it was quite a big instalation l got nine canvases 18x12 each....that was easy to work on at an individual level but was complex when finished.........the guy never bought the work after commissioning it grrrrrr so bit by bit l overpainted and sold off the canvasses lol

Well I think if you have the time to do it it would be really good. I have seen a similar thing but using friends.
If you can get hold of as many pictures of your family as far back in time as you can go... scan the pictures into a computer, then get some of that stuff you can transfer on to fabric stuff then, make a collage and stitch all the family on to a cushion or a blanket etc and then decorate the fabric with things that remind you of people e.g. bits of material, glitter, buttons or Cordy bits etc but place every picture together that belongs together but quite randomly it looks fab. Then you can give it to a member of family when you have finished project for a b'day present they will love it!!

go outside and find a branch that is thick at the base and tapered towards the top while still being rigid. put your family names onto actual leaves by using a permanent marker, then hang them on the branch using either superglue or little pieces of string. plant the branch into a bucket, or flower pot with some earth, then put grass around it to make an actual tree.
i did this and got 105% on my project. just make sure to bring some extra leaves with you in case you need to replace one before handing it in.
make sure the branch you choose has smaller branches coming off of it, so you have lots of room for the leaves.

You could do a tree family tree. The Larch is related to the chestnut, is related to the oak, etc etc.
Or you could do it in a series of colourful pie charts.

Does your family have functions at a favorite family members house, or is there a saying, or something that unique to your family, if you have a picture of that... that you can blow tht pick up, and have your family members in different part of the house, in that pic... to represent each member.
