Two miles is nothing...and the school bus ride is always fun :-)
I'm assuming you meant 12 and not 2...

my children are 7 and 9 and although there is a school at the bottom of my road, they go to school about 3 and half miles away, it just means they have 2 sets of friends, at school and after school. My daughter has never gone to nursery or school in her the area that she lives, even at 2 1/2 she lived about 3 miles from pre-school and it hasnt affected her, socially or emotionally, any friends that are worth the friendship would be willing to meet you where ever you live, if not they are not real friends!!! Hope this helps

The school is a good enough distance for her to get plenty exercise walking half way there and then realising she has forgotten something vitally important and running back to the house to try and get you to give her a lift, All in the school is far enough away that you will not be bothered by the noise/litter/swarms of kids/swarms of school buses, Sounds like and ideal distance to me. I was walking 2 miles to school from age 6

If you are worried about her not being around kids enough you can always make trips to the park a regular habit and if you have friends with kids close to her age, arrange play dates as often as you are comfortable with. There is also story time at public libraries. I'm sure you'll find some activity that socializes her.

ok, you lost me... when I grew up I was 5 miles away from school and rode my bike with my friends everyday, kept me active. how could a house isolate a kid.. god dammit kick your kid outside to play with their imagination.

So long as she does use the bus and you don't clog the roads by driving her there.
