I have this:
1. frozen veggie mix: broccoli, cauliflower, carrots
2. cube steak
3. soy sauce

What else do I need to make a stir fry? And can anyone give me simple directions because I tend to overcook stuff. Also, this will be the first time I'm cooking for my mother-in-law and I don't want to screw it up since she's a self-proclaimed cooking pro. Thanks

Whatever you do, don't use pre-cut cubed beef. This beef is designed for stewing, and will come out extremely tough and hard to chew in a stir fry. Use a ribeye steak, or a strip loin instead, and cut into strips rather than chunks.

A nice sauce base for your stir fry can be made with about 1/2 cup of beef broth and a tsp of corn starch. Add whatever you like to it to add flavour, soy sauce, ground ginger, garlic powder... basically any spice you like. You can even add orange juice and zest if you like an orange sauce.

Start by cooking your meat first, then add the veggies. When the veggies are tender yet crisp, add the sauce and cook for about 3 or 4 minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Serve over rice or noodles. My favorite are steam fried noodles. They only take a minute to cook and taste delicious!

I am concerned that cube steak will be much too tough for a stir fry. If you could cook the cube steak in gravy or mushroom soup mixed with onion soup mix that would make the meat more tender. Cook the veggies separate and serve with rice. Cube steak is just a very sinuous cut of meat, you'll want something more tender for stir fry (Or chicken, or shrimp). Good luck!!

I can give u some suggestions. Slice an onion or two into a pot and put the steak over it and let the onions saute' with the natural fats from the steak. Add the vegetables when the steak is almost done cooking. If the steak becomes dried up during cooking add soy sauce.

how bout some oyster sauce and some nice basmati rice... pour the oyster sauce in the veggies and meat when done and serve on top rice. The best way to make sure that your meat won't be tough is to pour a little bit of water on the bottom of the pan, steam them for about 5 -8 minutes and put in your veggies.Add a little bit more water to steam and cook all the way through.

Egg! You need a little scrambled egg and onion in it. It also helps if the rice is a day old and cold when you use it.
