A little healthy skepticism is a good thing. But how can people deny their own experiences?
Did you know the word skeptic comes from an ancient town
in Greece called Skepsis?
It was a place where the people knew nothing of what went on
outside of their own little town. The word skeptic was originally
a put down.
So when one prides him or herself on being skeptical, they
pride themselves on the fact they don't know anything!

What a crap statement. Skepticism has a positive connotation today, as the opposite is to be gullible, and no one thinks being gullible is a positive trait. Skepticism is healthy and something people should pride themselves on.

It's dishonest to draw conclusions from a meaning that the word doesn't have any longer. Being sceptic does not mean "knowing nothing". IF it meant that, then I'm not sceptic. And we'd have to look for a new word for the concept. "Knowing nothing" is called ignorance, not scepticism.

BTW, is a little ignorance a good thing for you? Wow!

Perhaps you could give us an example of what you're referring to as 'skepticism' so that we could give you an answer based on something more than mere opinion. Sound like a concept?

Skeptics don't deny their own experiences, they question the claims of others.

People who are constantly skeptical have no faith in anything and do not want to be caught in their ignorance. It is a pride thing.

You are willing to base your life on a fairy tale without questioning it? I would not deny my own experiences, but if somebody told me that a purple duck farted the world into existence, and that he was going to sit on me if I didn't believe, I would have a few questions...

Words change meaning all the time, you can't always judge what a word means by looking at it's root.
