Nursery School is the same thing as Pre-K although some people use "Nursery School to mean just the "3 year old preschool" program.
So it goes like this..
You can start Preschool aka Nursery School aka Pre-K at age 3.
Generally the age cut-off is that age by sept 1st. So If you are 3 by sept. 1st you go to 3 year old preschool...
Then you go to 4 year old preschool
Then you go to 5 year old KINDERGARTEN
Then off to 1st grade.
In most states, everything below 1st grade is actually optional; however, a few states to require kindergarten so check with your local elementary school regarding Kinder. However, in no state is 3 or 4 year old preschool required.

Well, YMMV depending on the area, but the "usual" interpretation is nursery school, then pre-k, then kindergarten.
The differences? Nursery school is young children (2, 3, and 4 year olds, depending on the specific program), and focuses mainly on social and other very basic skills. Prekindergarten, or pre-K, is usually for slightly older children (4 years old) and is used to introduce a more ordered situation, with a greater emphasis on preparing students for school. A similar program, usually called K4, is more academic in scope and designed for 4 year-olds, though some early childhood development experts question the wisdom of attempting to teach Kindergarten-level skills in children younger than 5.
Kindergarten is usually open to 5 or 6 year-olds.

Nursery school, pre-k is four years old and kindergarten is five years old. Most important learning begins at home and is reinforced at schools don't leave it up to the schools to teach your child.

nursery school and pre-k are basically the same, nursery school can however start sooner then pre-k. kindergarten they start to learn more things geared towards first grade. first nursery, then pre k, then kindergarten. I never sent my daughter to nursery school...she is in pre-k and next year she goes to kindergarten.
