There's this kid in my school & he told me he was my cousin but i'm unsure.

We both have the same cousins & my uncle's wife (my aunt) is his aunt.

are we related? if so, would he be my cousin or something.

It sounds like you're not really related to each other. Your uncle is married to his aunt. That does not make you cousins. (You are not blood relative to your uncle's wife, and he is not blood relative to your uncle.) I had a good friend like that when I was a kid...we wanted to be cousins, but we weren't really.

This is the way to follow your family tree. The one who has the blood line is your first cousin any other would be your cousin once removed or called second cousin. For example if your aunt is married to a brother of your mother or a brother of your father, your uncle is in the actual blood-line. Your aunt is related, politically. Meaning that she is of another family, bloodline, and is only your aunt because she's married to your uncle. In that case your aunts brother or sister is probably married to the cousin in question dad or mom. If your aunt is your mother's or father's sister then obviously there is some bloodline connection somewhere. Need to find out which relative carries the family bloodline. Unless adoption is involved or step relatives, then we have a different scenario.

You are cousins by marriage. Not a blood relation, but still cousins.

You could be by family, blood or marriages--it is good for kids to find out who they are related too, I have learned to look, listen and hear. I have family all over, and did not know half of them and still have a lot that I do not know, I have mixed races and that makes it harder at times. Keep looking and ask what you want to know about, maybe someone in your family knows, ask them first!

You must be distant cousins who have really never met. Your parents must have had an argument and didn't want you and your so called cousin to know each other. That's my thought.
