It's very likely that she sees you as a friend who is pleasant to talk to. When a girl mentions her boyfriend, that is a clue that she is *not* romantically interested in you. Unless she's complaining about how she hates him... saying that she's sad means well, she's sad. To make sure, ask her some follow up questions. Like, so have you talked to your boyfriend? How is he doing? Are you guys going to try to maintain a long distance relationship? Then if she says, no we are going to see other people, well, there's your opening. But I doubt she is interested in you.

It means she was sad because her boyfriend just went away to college. There's no reason to look to far into that one. If anything just be a friend to her while she gets adjusted to a long distance relationship.

If you want to further this, it could be the opportunity to chat her up... but having her guy go away will be hard on her. Offer support... ring her (if you don't already), start seeing her off of the metro. She could come out to really like you.

She's letting you know that her boyfriend is going to be far far away. Open the conversation. See if she plans on staying with him. You never know, maybe they were only together for a short time, maybe they weren't very serious, maybe she is willing to start a new relationship.

You won't know if you don't ask.

I love it when a girl greets me with enthusiasm. But I don't instantly assume that she is falling in love with me.
She is obviously sweet, & outgoing, & makes friends easily.
You are lucky to know her, & be able to share moments with her.
Look at the situation that way for now.

She has a boyfriend. Try to respect that.

If things change (& they often do) then they change, if they don't then they don't.

wait it out as her friend until he messes up by cheating or something. don't be going after a taking girl unless she come on very strong that she wants you. Till then be her friend hang out party but wait til the right time. the quickest way is to watch a couple movies together you never know she might ponce on you.

sounds like she likes you but is attached to someone else, and more then likely confused about her feelings, until recently when her bf was leaving to college, and is looking towards you as a friend to give her advice like were all doing for you, or you could just ask her why she is always smilling at you and if she is intrested, or you not willing to get rejected by someone you like!

I would take that as a subtle hint...maybe ask her out to lunch or coffee. You never know.
