As little cash as you will need to get to a bank to use your cirrus card or cash travellers cheques. Much safer.

I tried to use travellers cheques, but they were more hassle than they were worth. I had to get my passport out every time I wanted to use one.I then used my visa card. It was accepted everywhere. I used the travellers cheques to pay off the balance when I got home.

I used the card when I was there. It felt a bit more like home. Almost every bank was cool with it. Then again I was in Sydney and not way out back.
