A good friend of mine just broke up with her boyfriend of about two years. I have been talking to this friend for about a year now after not talking to her for about five years. I was away at college and then moved back into the area and reconnected with her. I want to ask her out but am very afraid of losing her as a friend, but am very attracted to her. I told her about three months ago that I had feelings for her. So, I am wondering how long do I give her before I ask her out?

Ask her now. You don't want to sit around wondering what could have been. She is a good friend of yours. Let her decide if she is ready or not. And if she isn't, I doubt it will ruin your friendship. If she is a really good friend of yours, the worst thing that can happen is that she will tell you that she just isn't ready to date yet. So, don't worry. Just go ask! Good luck!! =)

How long is "just broke up"? A few days? Weeks?

There's no specific time for you to wait...but you don't want to ask too soon because she may not be ready...and you don't want to be the rebound guy, so you need to know she's really got closure on her recently-ended relationship...

I wouldn't wait too long to ask her though...or someone may beat ya to it.

One question to consider is if she likes you more than a friend? So you might want to start just hanging out more often and then consider asking her in the near future.

It's been about three months. Ask her. Be gentle. (But then again, if you love someone, you'll always do what's best for them.)

IF YOU ALREADY TOLD HER YOU HAVE FEELINGS AND SHE DID NOT RESPOND THE WAY YOU WANTED HER TO THEN SHE MIGHT NOT BE INTERESTED AND IF YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO LOSE HER FRIENDSHIP THEN DON'T RISK IT AGAIN.
