i was told by reply no12 in this prevoius question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApgHgrX7Z1EWSo47fuARgAfzy6IX?qid=20060921103129AAuRqPa
"The One True God provided a way for your sin to be forgiven, so you might avoid punishment in hell and be reconciled to Him. ........ These are the questions you need to ask yourself if you wish for security in the afterlife. If you want a squishy religion that makes you feel happy, follow whatever you want. But if truth and your soul mean anything to you, consider what I have said."

sounds like a harsh Jesus. i was asking about the goodness of Jesus so i can consider Him with the following:

a christian friend told me these:
1) only jesus want to be a friend to the point of death
2) only jesus gone through everything i am going through
3) only jesus promise he hang around with me for eternity.
4) only Jesus is currently praying on my behalf.
5) only Jesus says He guides my hands not just give laws for me to obey alo

I dont know what this person was trying to get at but what Jesus really wants is a relationship. If you repent, which means to ask God to forgive you for your sins and turn away from sin, and accept Christ as your Lord and Savior than you are saved. But its a little more than just words, its a lifestyle that you must live by in accordance with the Holy Bible. Jesus died for you so that you will live for Him. His sole purpose in coming was to save the world from eternal damnation. All He wants is for you to fullfill God's purpose for your life.

No don't hold back. Notice what reply 12 said "SINS FORGIVEN", "AVOID ETERNAL PUNISHMENT", these are amazing things! :-) Jesus will be just to those who have not accepted him at the end. But to those who have he pours out his grace, mercy, and love!

No other "god" is like Jesus. Think about this. When all the other "gods" died what happened? Nothing, absolutley nothing. When Jesus died, what happened? He was in the grave for 3 days and then he was resurrected through God's power, proving that He has authority over death and sin! Jesus is the only living, eternal God.

I don't see anything wrong with what that person told you. I understand that christianity is such a personal thing and that you can get frustrated with certain responses. However, be careful not to make it so that it is pallatable to you. By doing so, you are creating God in your own image. He doesn't like that. In order for me to truly accept Jesus and what he did, I had to realize that I was a liar, a blasphemer, an adulterer at heart, etc. (basically, I broke all the commandments). That's how God sees me... a lawbreaker. The punishment for breaking that law is Hell. UNLESS... a fine is paid. And that fine is so high, that we can't afford it. However, Jesus paid that fine for me despite what I have done to offend Him.
So, try not to get offended by these statements. Look at them, think about them, and look at yourself. Here's the thing, I was a "christian" for many years before I came to this point. God will work with a humble heart.

You are getting alot of answers here.....and most are from people
who are sincere....however Im sure that you are looking for some-
thing that rings true to you!something that you can grab hold of and
say..now that sounds like the truth to me. Am I correct in that
assumption? the Bible verses at 2tim.3:1-5 have really helped me
to see the truth of the Inspired word of God, As it really pertains to
the time that we are now living.Of course there are other scriptures
that help us appreciate the wisdom and truth in the Bible.
In Matt.7:21..it tells that not all religions are acceptable to God.
At verses 13 and 14 it says many will not successfully find the
right path.Again in chapter 24:7-14 tell us of Christs presence
in these last days and goes along with the scriptures in 2nd.tim.

All of the above are true. Jesus is nothing but love, really. I speak what I do from experience. Example, I have a friend who only 2 years ago was a young man who felt worthless, shameful, he was into drugs, easily persuaded by others, he was insecure, felt like he had to hide who he was, thought that all kinds of things were wrong with him, anything you can think of that would drive a young man into the ground. One day he came over to my house and my mom was telling him some stories of her life experiences with God and he became interested in this "god". He learned of who God is and decided that he wanted God in his life, decided he wanted to know who God is. He is SO free now. His identity and security is in God, as opposed to a car or a girl or drugs. Objects and people just leave a person feeling empty. God is what makes you whole. His life has just taken a tremendous turn, he's happy, confident, he's aware of his outstanding self worth, God has taken him out of the yucky muck he was stuck in before. He's becoming the man God created him to be, and he's so happy. Even to this day God is at work in his life, bringing him along even further. He just got his first new car, he just got out of his terrible job, it's amazing. And that's what Jesus is all about. Making things new again. Making this life the opposite of what many people have come to think it is. Just a hard struggle till the day you die kinda thing. God didn't create us so we could suffer on the earth. And the laws that God gives us to obey, they aren't there to make things miserable for us. He gives them to us to keep us safe and out of danger. I could go on about how wonderful Jesus is forever, but I think you get the idea. Don't get religion and God mixed up though. Religion is nothing but legalism, rules, that tell you it's wrong to sin and that God only loves those who don't sin. Well that's a lie because sin is in our nature, that's the point of Jesus. Just keep talking to your christian friends, and even talk to God. If you're skeptical, tell Him that if He is for real, you wanna know. You'll see Him show up :)

OK the way i would describe it to yes he wants to be all those things your friend and yes he will always be there also but when you accept him as your savior he also becomes your father whuich means that when you disobey him he is going to what punish you but when you realize your mistake and you say ur sorry he forgives you HE NEVER STOPS LOVING YOU but do not hold back that is what the devil wants you to do. Do what you feel is right but if you want to get saved then do so but realize that it is not a bed of roses but do REALIZE when hard times do come across you that you do have a friend who will be there ALWAYS and it will be Jesus.
I really hope this helps you. I will and have my parents and chruch pray for you.

Whatever you are considering, you eventually will need to consider the real Jesus--who is a complete being.

That is, yes, think about all of the wonderful things that Jesus gives you and does for you--but also think about the consequences of not accepting salvation.

If you are having trouble because maybe you don't think you like a God that allows people to go to hell, you can ask yourself if you are looking for a god who suits you or the God who is real and who has requirements and brings justice. If you are looking for a god that right now suits your fancy, you will find a god that isn't real.

God allows people to go to hell because people choose to be separated from him. If one chooses not to know God in this life, then God permits them to remain separated from him forever. This is fair--as it honors individuals' choices.

If you want to get to know the full, real God, get on your knees and pray to him. When you make contact with God and enter into a relationship, he reveals things to you. If you remain in a state where you're weighing God in your mind, then you won't be able to reach him. The way to reach him is to knock on HIS door--not your own.

If you are being called, answer!

If you have questions, seek the answers. The answers are best given by the Church, which is the pillar and bulwark of Truth, not individuals interpretations of what they think Christ is, was and teaches. Those that teach "truths" other than what the Church teaches do so without authority. This is called cafeteria Christianity.
