Hello Gotanymor...
It is as plain as the nose on ones face, you don't have arthritis..... Leave your mother alone... She knows best. Many times a recliner is the only comfort one gets......

Laying on a flat bed with joint problems can be extremely painful.
A woman's hips create a huge pressure point while sleeping in a bed. Let your mom sleep where she can find comfort. Nobody wants to be in pain AND have NO SLEEP on top of that.
Sometimes it is hard to understand what whe have not experienced ourselves. Try offering your mom one of those special ""wrap around the neck"" pillows and maybe she wont slump as much will sleeping in the recliner.

I also have Arthritis., when you have arthritis, you tend to sleep
wherever you are the most comfortable...don't be mad at her for this...she has pain, and this is the only place she can sleep..
does she also have osteoporosis?? that might cause her to be hunched over...God bless....

..Yes i agree with you i do believe that this could cause more damage to her hips and her back too. ..but you also have to understand that when people are in a lot of pain,,they need to do whatever it takes for them to be more comfortable...no matter what, she is in pain any way....!!
