Don't keep them in your house. And don't go down that aisle in the grocery store. It's hard, but you have to try and replace those sweets with other healthier things, like fruits and veggies. Treat yourself once in a while though, it won't kill you. Plus, I read that if you deprive yourself too much, there's more of a chance that you'll end up freaking out and eating an entire package of Oreos.

I dont avoid temptation, I give in- WAIT WAIT---let me explain------ If ur on a diet or trying to cut off the candy- Do it slowly, Im on a diet and have been loosing a lot of weight, in the process I have learned that I lost more weight if I eat what I want instead of trying to avoid it, BUT there is a trick OHHUUUHH--- Instead of eating a whole cookie I eat 1/4 of the cookie now and put the rest for the next day, Sounds like a scam huh, but it works because ur satisfying the craving but not giving in to eating 10 or 15 of them, and I just think after ward that I ate the whole cookie (cant fool ur self) think again ur mind is set to believing what ever u want it to believe, Just try it and u will see. For real I have lost 57 pounds in less than 4 months (honest) so go ahead treat ur self to 3 single m&m's and satisfy ur thirst for sweets.

u know what's funny..when i have nothing in the house, i Crave snacks! and i go buy them! but when i have them around the house, i kinda eat them for a bit, and then leave 'em alone...! i have a whole bag of dark chocolate in my desk at work and haven't touched it in awhile now..?! so sometimes suppressing ur cravings causes u to Splurge too much later! i say Exercise and eat healthier when u are alone. that way when u go out for dinners w/ friends and stuff u can "splurge" once in awhile. as long as u exercise daily, u can afford to eat what u want. it's better than eating what u want and not exercising.
oh, and also i discovered something healthy recently :). at wendy's u can get a kid's meal w/ a turkey (or ham) and cheese sandwich, small fries (u can substitute yogurt or fruit), drink (u can get soda OR milk), AND a kid's size frosty!! it's actually a pretty adult sized meal i say! (kids these days eat too much i think...uh oh!) and it's only $3.33 for the entire meall, including tax!
also, side salad and baked potato is a good lunch, and when i know i'm going out to dinner i'll make myself eat this so that i save my calories for a good restaurant! :)
good luck!

Don't have them in your house. When you are at the supermarket, get healthy fruits such as grapes to have around when you have a craving for sweets. They'll be much better for you. And don't go down the sweets isle or do not pay any attention to the sweets next to the counter. Have willpower.

Don't try to avoid it altogether. Just allow yourself one piece of chocolate (or whatever) a day. Eat it last thing in the evening then brush your teeth--you won't want to eat more and get them all sugary again.

Don't even look at them or buy them at all. That is the only way. Go way past the cookie isle or candy isle in the grocery store. Don't check the dessert section in restaurants. Good luck, I can't do it myself.

stop being weak.
every time you pick up that chocolate, or candy, or whatever, say to yourself, "do i want to add these calories, empty of nutritional value, directly onto my fat? or should i put it down and exercise instead, so i lose weight?"
unless you're sleep-eating, you make the conscious decision every time to eat something.

I'm having the same issue. I'm trying to lose weight and it's really hard to stay away from all the goodies. When I crave the goodies, I tell myself that if eat them, I'll go another day behind my goal.
