I have seen a neurologist not for ADHD, but after a car accident. Compared to the other endless doctors I had to see (including family doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, etc...), the neurologist was the most helpful. They come from the standpoint of the brain controls the actions of the body, and may do tests or MRIs to determine brain functions. I found the psychologist and psychiatrist too specialized and only pushed for drugs or talking to help me through.

I am a chiropractor, and I have treated an number of children and adults with ADD/ADHD. I know it sound unconventional, but there is a special group of chiropractors that do cranial adjustments. ADD/ADHD is not always a chemical imbalance, most of the time it is the inability of the brain, nerves, and dura (the covering of the brain that helps too supply blood to the brain) to work properly because the cranial bones are not moving properly. Not all chiropractors do this, only doctors in this special group, go to www.sorsi.com to find a doctor in your area. I'm in Minnesota, you can email me or go to my website at www.healinghandschiro.com.

A FAMILY DR. OR ANY TYPE OF THERAPIST WILL NOT HELP ADHD. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS WITH MY SON. A NUEROLOGIST JUST DETERMINES THAT THERE IS NO BRAIN DAMAGE. ADHD IS A CHEMICAL INBALANCE WHICH YOU NEED TO HAVE MEDICINE TO PUT YOUR INBALANCE BACK IN BALANCE. HOPE THIS HELPS.

UNFORTUNATLEY, NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ACTUALLY SEE A NEUROLOGIST AND MANY ARE MISDIAGNOSED AS HAVING ADHD. GET THE BRAINWAVE SCAN. IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE ADD/ADHD.
