The statement about having to have a 1080P tv are incorrect. You can have any HDTV that uses HDMI. The TV will down convert the signal to 1080I or 720P. If you don't believe me check out the manufactures web site.
I've installed about 50 Samsung Blu-Ray disp players since they came out, I work for http://www.hdinstallers.com the largest home theater installation in the united states and I've installed them on 720P Plasmas, LCD, and rear project TV's

Blu-Ray is 1080P true HD. only certain TV's are this quality, most HD sets only show 720P. You not only need the Blu-Ray player, and Blu-Ray discs, and HDMI cable, you would need a 1080P TV. So you will not get the best picture which is 1080P resolution without that type of TV.It will show on any TV but the quality needs to be downgraded. Why spend the money if you can't get the best quality? Also PS3 is Blu-Ray so if you want that you need 1080P set. It all depends on the quality you want though...

Yes blu-ray will show on your tv...but you will need a blu-ray dvd player to play the discs. They are pretty pricey right now, so you may want to wait.

Yes Blue-ray will play on HDTV , matter of fact it should play on std. or analog TV.
Blue ray is just the type or color of the laser found on HD DVD player, instead of the red laser found on std. DVD players
