I have to drive an hour home on the busy freeway... any suggestions of how to stay awake and be able to sleep a couple of hours later will be appreciated.

You will have problems staying awake during the day, because your body is used to sleeping during the day. The reason why your brain dies at night, is because your body don' t put off any mochonium during the night, it produces mochonium during the day, its what gives your energy during the day. Your body don't put it off during the night, and thats why your tired.

Well let me think...I have worked nights 7p-7a (Graveyard) for about 20 years. I too have an hour long drive home in the morning. what I do is before my shift ends I load up on water then 2 cups orange juice. The water hydrates you and will make you want to go pee and that my friend keeps you awake. Good luck my fellow nightstalker may the sun never shine on you.

I would work shift work,do not go to bed as soon as you get home.Try to stay awake until noon or two,you will be more rested if you wake at nine.Your body will adjust to this. It's not uncommon to get real tired around three or four.

I also work 7p-7a. I just drink coffee around 5am. This keeps me on my 45 min drive, but doesn't keep me up all day. I do have to get up and pee alot though!!!LOL! Roll down the window and turn the radio up!!

YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A DISTURBANCE IN YOUR CIRCADIAN RHYTHMS. YOU COULD DO A SEARCH ONLINE AND LEARN MORE ABOUT THEM, AND HOW TO WORK WITH THEM. OR, YOU COULD GO TO A PSYCHOLOGIST WHO IS TRAINED TO HELP WITH THET. IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE CRAZY OR SICK. YOUR BODY AND MIND WORK IN CERTAIN WAY AT CERTAIN TIMES OF DAY AND NIGHT, AND REGULATE CHEMICALS ACCORDING TO THOSE TIMES. YOU HAVE TO FIGURE THEM OUT TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH THEM.

I AM SURE IF YOU TALKED TO ANY OF OUR SOLDIERS WHO HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED, AND SENT OUT ON MISSIONS FOR DAYS AT A TIME, THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH.

GO AHEAD AND GOOGLE 'CIRCADIAN RHYTHM' AND STUDY.
