Garlic powder...About 1/4 teaspoon

Milk...I prefer powder milk, diluted...NEVER curdles!!!

Crumble sausage until fine in a dutch oven and, brown

Add enough flour to absorb the grease from sausage...As with any gravy...About 4-5 Tablespoons

Stir flour into sausage and, the grease until flour is slightly browned

Add enough H2o to fill dutch oven about 2 inches deep

Add garlic, sage, beef bouillon, salt, and pepper...To taste

Let mixture simmer over med low heat, until pretty thick...About 30 mins.

Add diluted powder milk...About 1 1/2 Cups

Let simmer until desired thickness

I apologize measurements aren't more exact...I just always cook from scratch!!!

I don't make homemade biscuits anymore!!!

When I make homemade gravy, I use start with the fat/juices of some meat, preferably sausage.

After removing the sausage from the pan, add about 2 TBS of flour to the medium hot pan.

Use a plastic or wooden spoon to mix well as it all heats.

Slowly add milk, while stirring. Don't add too fast or you'll get lumps.

Salt/pepper to taste. Lots of pepper will give you a classic gravy taste.

I always use store-bought biscuits because it's too much trouble to make homemade. I like the frozen ones.

'Buy biscuits that you like. The gravy is so simple You could make it with your eyes closed. Simply get a skillet that will hold about 1 quart. Fry bacon or sausage or both in the skillet. when the meat is done put it on a paper towel to drain. In the skillet add one half cup flour and let cook a few seconds keep stiring with a whisk (it keeps lumps out) until it is a very pale brown. Add all at once two cups milk with one cup water ( I usually prepare this in the bowl I use to serve the gravy in. Keep stiring with the whisk until desired thickness. Yummy! If you dont have enough fat in your skillet just add a little oil.

I like the store bought biscuits and the store bought gravy mix. It's quick and easy and you don't mess up a lot of dishes. Tastes good too!

You have quite a few suggestions for your gravy, but here is my all time favorite shortcut for biscuits.

Pillsbury makes a frozen southern style biscuit they sell in most grocery stores near other frozen breads.

I once made biscuits and gravy for work one morning. They thought I was crazy for making biscuits from scratch. If they only knew they were frozen!!! Only me and Pillsbury knew.

If you're going to buy the biscuits, why not buy the gravy as well?
