how many of you parents go away with your kids for a weekend? I go every 5 months or so....this weekend, i am taking my 8 yr old to disneyworld with my sister and her 7 yr old son and staying at one of the resorts...we are leaving tomorrow after school. my 7 month old son will stay behind with his daddy and my sister's 2 yr old daughter will also stay behind. we want to enjoy our older kids and not have the lil' ones hold us up

We go to our camper just about every weekend from April - Oct. We've been doing this for several years now. It is so much fun. We look forward to the start of the season every winter. And no we aren't "roughing it" by any means. We have a park model (which is basically like a trailer home) and it's got an addition on it so it's big. And we have a golf cart to drive around the campground. There are all kinds of activities going on. Like last weekend it was "Halloween". People decorate their lots w/ decorations and the kids get dressed in costumes and go trick or treating.

Excellent idea! I raised 7 kids 5 boys and 2 girls. I didn't go away on a long trip but arranged for a day or evening outing. By the time my 3rd child started school I began to notice my oldest and saw the sad look in his eyes, especially when I was doing something with one of the younger kids. So I created Mom and Son's day out! I made a small list of the different things we could do and let them decide what they would like to do on their "time with Mom"Friday Saturday and Sunday for 3 hours each day belonged to one of the 3 older boys. Life at the home front was much smoother!Sometimes an older child will feel left out or that they aren't important any more, I feel it was good for them and for myself to have that special time together.

sometimez u just need someone to chill out with without the lil kids who keep us held up with...

i take my son out sometimes and my husband takes my daughter out...it's good for you to go out with them and have fun individually.
