Could ask the same in reverse, is there a logical reason why people don't?

Try and see this more as a question and not an opportunity to make fun of the asker, this question doesn't mock anyone, does it? It is, in fact, "innocent", don't you think? Once you pull your, *nevermind*

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!

Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!

Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?

My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:

Do you know how to play safe?
Your point:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...

Believer's point:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...

Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?

There is no evidence for god, so it is reasonable to not believe. Any "proof" can be used to prove FSM, Zeus, maybe the tooth fairy, and any other thing that can be made up. There is no basis for a belief in god other than the incapability to explain ones surroundings. You can look at unknowns and admit you don't know, and then scientifically try to explain. Or you can make a fairy tale and pretend you know everything. Many can't handle the unexplained, so to cope the caveman made god. Many still use it as a safety blanket, and it helps them feel special and not alone. That is why many are afraid of the dark. I admit not knowing, and go about trying to explain it. I never say that my way is the only possible way, just more likely. I can't be certain there are no pink fish living in the 6th dimension, and entering our world secretly through garbage cans. But I can say that it is not likely. So no there is no reason to believe except if you are insecure in not knowing. I can go on, but this is my basic point.

I think there are different reasons people believe but the main one is family tradition. Traditions good or bad passed along by way of family teaching is usually very hard to break and very easy for the next generation to pick up and carry the ball. Some, I suppose truly enjoy it and they find it fulfills their life. Some, I think want to 'belong' to something.

Why people don't believe. I think some find it doesn't answer any questions in their life. They find it restrictive and demeaning. A lot feel that it limits their potential for growth as a human being.

I just asked the question: Can't we at least be respectful? I got 3 answers. I think most people are on here to have fun, not learn from one another.

There are logical reasons both ways. Believers aren't stupid or uneducated. They've experienced something non-believers haven't.

Believers should be a little more understanding to those that haven't experienced, but when the name calling starts, feelings get hurt and respect goes out the door.

Sure, the logical explanation is that some people feel the need to have a belief in something big and powerful that is there to protect them from all that life has to hurt them with, includeing death. It is just self delusion, really. But, if it makes them feel better, they can have it.
However, when they come in here trying to be condescending or superior, I will share with them my feelings on the matter.

God:
Quells fear of the unknown. Adds warm, squishy feeling to life. Acts as security blanket when hard times come.

Whether an actual God performs acts or the mere thought of a God helps us make it through, "God" is a definite pacifier.

No God:
There is no evidence for God. Not all people need an explanation. We can find answers within or elsewhere.

Whether there is or isn't a God, not everyone needs to believe just to get by emotionally, nor does a belief in God add to everyone's life.

I believe that trusting in the core of my being, what's deep in my heart, is a logical explanation for believing in God. If someone feels that in the core of their being that there is no God, or that they will just never know, then I respect that as a logical explanation as well.

Yes, there is a logical explanation why people believe in God: They evolved to. For many thousands of years, when our science and sociology weren't advanced enough to explain things and keep us together, the tribes whose brains were hardwired for religion beat out the tribes who weren't religious. Kind of ironic that the very evolution so many religious people deny is actually the reason they're religious in the first place, isn't it?

And yes, there is a logical explanation why people don't believe in God: The evidence against God just plain outweighs the evidence for God.

The logical explanation for why people believe in god is that they need answers to the most important questions about life and death, the future and so on.

The logical explanation for why people don't believe in god, is that we cannot take those answers that religions give. We need the answers as dearly as believers, but we cannot accept THOSE answers as valid, and we prefer to keep in anguish looking for a better answer, than settle for answers that deep in our hearts and minds just don't make sense.

I have read many religious texts and had questions. Could not get straight answers to those questions. If people that are supposed to be spreading the word of a god cannot answer my questions, why should I continue to believe? It is as if they are just using the phrase 'have faith' too much and expecting that to be it. It does not work like that.

Another good question.
