what works for one, might not work for another. everyone has different degrees of the illness. it is a trial and error thing. first let me say that i'm not doing GREAT, but when i dont follow my rules i've set for myself i'm WORSE.for me, it was learning to listen to my body! timing is everything. if i know that i have something important to do on tues, then i'm going to take it easy on monday. i know what can "trigger" a bad day for me.....a full day or errands, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping etc. will for sure make me feel like crap the next day...i just make sure when i feel like crap, not to force myself to do things thus leading me to feel MORE like crap and for longer periods of time. my brain says lets do this & that, but if my body says hell no, then it's bed & a book! I eat my fruits & veggies! When I do feel good I walk and stretch to keep things moving. I go to Physical ther. twice a year (usually in spring and fall which are the worse times for me since it rains so much and the temp changes so drastically). I have equipment that they gave me that i use at home (tens unit, theracane, tennis balls in a sock for the headaches, theraband for stretching). I use heating patches (icy hot). and when all else fails i take my vicodin for pain. i ve been on several different medications, but none of them work for me. but getting a good dr. is the first step! they will work with you until u find a med that does help. good luck!!!!!

My aunt has fibromyalgia, and the best way is to take things calmly, handling only one day at a time. This disease can also cause depression, so be on the lookout for any warning signs. I also hope that you're family is there to help you out, because it's not an easy thing to go through.

The best was to handle fibromyalgia is to make sure you eat healthy; lots of fresh veggies, whole grains, no white refined foods and avoid all refined sugars, as much as possible and make sure you take many varieties of essential fats.

Fats are extremely essential and beneficial for fibrmyalgia and many other health conditions, they are necessary for normal brain and body function. Omega 3 is the most important source to suppliment, because it is not found commonly in the diet. Omega 9's are found commonly in the diet, so there is no need to suppliment them. Omega 6's are in the diet, but not as common as Omega 9, some suppliments is required. Omega 3's are the hardest to get in the diet, therefore suppliments are required.
The best sources of fat are a combination of Flax oil, fish oil and Evening Primrose oil or Borage oil. There are others, but these are the best sources I have found, to compliment all of my essential oils, known as EFA's, essential fatty acids.
I take Cod Liver oil and Salmon oil to get my Omega 3 DHA and EPA. Fish oil is the only viable source of Omega-3 with DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). Also known as brain food!
Flax oil is a good source of Omega-3 Fatty Acid, ALA (alpha linolenic acid).
I don't take borage, but it is supposed to be a good source of Omega 6 GLA (gamma linolenic acid), instead I take Evening Primrose oil, because of it's other benefits for female problems.
I also recommend taking Spirulina and especially Chlorella, these are algae that are extremely beneficial and help to detox and heal the body. Chloressence is the best brand of chlorella, but if you do not have it available, find yourself another good source. I don't remember the Spirulina company I use, but if you make sure they are pure and highly absorbable, cracked cell walls are the best, that's what really matters, for both. Another energy booster is greens, I use Natural Factors Enriching Greens, these items combined are a great way to start the day. I put together these green items and fats and shake it for breakfast energy drink. It has been a miracle. If I don't take it, I feel tired all day long, with it I can run on 2 hours sleep and still feel good. Hope this helps you.

my mom is taking an all natural mineral and vitamin supplement that has kept her from having any pain for months now. Her symptoms have seemed to disappear. Part of the pain comes when your body decides to freak out when confronted with proteins that are difficult to digest. The supplements give your body what it needs to break down the proteins and use them the way they were intended. Then it boosts your immune system and improves energy levels. Really great stuff! The supplements are inexpensive, easy to take and have no negative side effects.

email me for more info, Id love to help!

I'll second what everyone else has said about exercise and healthy eating, and I'll add that what works for me is 800 mg. of Aleve and a 1000-mg. flaxseed oil capsule every night at bedtime for daily pain relief, and I take Arnica (a homeopathic herb) as needed for pain. The links below should be helpful. Good luck finding relief.

with lots of laughs. No really work with your doctor as far as the meds go but I find going to a warm pool with mild exercise helps. If you find the warm pool you might find a hot tub there too. I found this at my local WMCA. I joined the arthritis class. The longer you stay active the better off you are.

Stay away from cola drinks. Overconsumption of cola drinks can mimic firbromyalgia and/or other autoimmune diseases, and can make them worse.
