According to one bit of gambling folklore, casinos pump pure oxygen through the air conditioning in order to make gamers light-headed and relaxed about the prospect of losing. In another version, the casinos do it during the night hours so customers will carry on playing and not go to sleep.

Both versions are nonsense - gassing customers would be illegal. But a casino in Atlantic City did experiment with scents, hoping for an effect similar to one supermarkets get by circulating the smell of baking bread. It didn't work, but it may have fuelled this myth.

It's a myth that they pump in oxygen. They do have other ways to keep people awake, like turning on the Air Conditioning.

I worked in a casino in Reno NV for abt 2 and a half years and I never heard of it. They do however keep the air conditoner on a very cool level. And the comment abt the clocks is true. There are no clocks on the casino floors.

I think that they do do that to help keep people awake and gambling. Same thing with the no clocks anywhere in a casino so the gamblers won't realize how long they've been gambling or what time it is. They also have tinted windows so that the gamblers won't see if it's sunny outside (or dark). It's all designed to keep you at the table because if you stay there long enough, you're going to lose.

Doubtful. Oxygen in levels above 23.5% (normal is 21%) vigorously accelerates combustion. This would be a bad thing!
