My wife packs my daughters lunch and she takes it to school every day, but when she comes home, most of the food is still in her lunch box. We have tried several different foods and snacks, but she is not interested in eating.

Try taking your daughter to the grocery store to "pick out" her lunches. Let her pick what she wants to pack. If she picks all unhealthy items put them to the side and tell her to pick out 2 or 3 things. Then let her start over with some other more healthy choices. At night, let her help pack her new lunch goodies with you! She can see exactly what she is getting. Good luck.

Try letting your daughter pack it. I know that sounds dangerous, but it may get her interested in the meal and make her WANT to eat it. It may not be quite what you had in mind for her to eat, but it's better than not eating at all.

You may wish to set out a couple of options on the counter and let her put it in the lunch box. By her doing it herself, it will give her a sense of pride as well as letter her think she is in control of her meal. In the beginning, it will be hard for you to see the combinations, but as she gets used to packing it, she will widen her tastes and ask for different, more healthy options.

Good Luck!

Have you tried asking her what she wants for lunch? It could also be that she hasn't adjusted to kindergarten yet. You have to find out what the problem is... If she never had a problem eating lunch before she started school, the issue could be school.

You need to talk to her and see what is wrong, because if there is nothing wrong with school then maybe your daughters appetite has decreased.

Surprisingly, that is typical. My daughter was the same way. Try to pick her out something that is fun to eat. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Sometimes they are just not hungry. Plus, she is just starting school and she may be a little nervous starting out. Just give her some time. She will start eating.

Give her rewards for eating all her food even if it is just saying good job it will make her feel good and she will be more willing to eat.
