Why not try using "mom" in another language?
Ammi, Oma, Amma, Ema, Makta....

How about mommy and call your friend whatever her name happens to be. There's no such thing as 2 mommys. 2 parents, maybe but a child only has 1 mom. Don't confuse them.

the mommy "name" is a good idea. the different language is also a good idea. my cousin and her partner are "mommy" and "inay"
