As usual, I'm finding it very difficult to choose the "best" from what I recieved. That being the case, I thought I would post a few that tickled my fancy.

Chicky - "As an atheist, I don't believe there is a god.

...but...

As a free-thinker, I have to acknowledge the *possibility* that I may be wrong.

...so...

As a sarcastic b*tch, I have to *HOPE* god has a sense of humor!"

blair g - "How's this.

God and the Devil were having this discussion when God says I've had this idea to give my people the gift of spirituality.

The devil responded, God, what a terrific idea. I'll organize it for you and call it religion.

Religious fundamentalist and humor seems to be an oxymoron to me."

Humor, in my humble opinion, is the divine's gift to us. It enables us to look at things, often tragic things, in a way that lightens our load. Or as it was once said, "If it did not make me laugh, I would cry."

I think we all need to lighten up around here a bit. You?

There is a time to be serious, and a time to laugh a little (kinda paraphrasing Eccl. 3:4).

Yes, I agree. People are very quick to take offense and to then heap it back tenfold. Also, the command of language is poor, even among people who are obviously native English speakers. In many cases I can't tell them apart from those who use English as a second- or third language and who have had minimal education in it.

That's why I believe in God, and not religion.
