i have had tightness in my chest for 10 months now. I have had EKGs, Chest xrays, and blood work, all cam back normal. Doctors have said it's anxiety.
I have the tightness everyday, I have noticed that if something stressful is happening it tightens up more, I get shortness of breath, racing thoughts, what if thinking, and my throat feels tight.
My main troublesome symptom is the tightness in my chest in my left pec region. Doctors hav said nothing is physically wrong with me. I can't seem to shake it off, that there could be something serious wrong, and the doctors missed something. My mom tells me, to calm down, not all the doctors I have seen are wrong.
I called my doctor one day and he told me to see a psychiatrist.
Could I been over reacting?
Has anyone else had tightness in their chest everyday?
Please help.
Thanks:)

i have had those symptoms before and it is most likely anxiety, but you could also look into something called Angina (an-gy-na). This is another form of major heartburn that has the exact same symptoms as anxiety....very hard to breath, tightness in the chest, throat feels tight.....as you doctor about that....you could just be suffering from that and need a pill for it.
And yes the doctors could be totally right that it is anxiety, they make pills for that also, i don't see why you would need to spend alot of money on therapy though, just ask for an anxiety pill, much cheaper than a therapist....GOOD LUCK!

Yep could well be stress. You may need to work out exactly what makes you stressed and deal with this issue so that you can control the situation rather than it control you. It may also be asthma, unless you have been tested for this, as your symtoms are similar and that can be brought on by stress, but then I have no medical background, just experience of it.
If you are unhappy with your doctors opinion then you could seek advice from another doctor to put your mind at rest. Pains in the chest are not something doctors take lightly and it sounds like you have had the necessary specialist tests.
You may find it helpful to relax more and make time for yourself and if you feel stressed then do slow deep breathing. The more you worry about it the worst it will be because you are giving it all of your focus. Sometimes life style can be to blame, so I would suggest ensuring you have a healthy balanced diet (with fruit and veg) and take regular weekly exercise. Be kind to your body and it will reward you in return. Hope this is helpful!

Been there, had that, I had every test you just described and the doctor finally said it was just anxiety. Therapy is an option to try. My chest seemed like it was tight everyday but just sit down and take a deep breath and you should be fine. I thought everyday I was having a heart attack but it was just all in my head. I was on meds for a while. paxil helped but therapy may help you. Good Luck and dont worry you will be fine.

Sounds as though it is stress related.... You could be having panic attacks. Lots of people have them and you need to go to the right Dr. for panic disorders. It is nothing to be ashamed of and if you have this you need help to get through it.
My sister was sick and had been to different doctors, had test run and everything kept coming back good. Finally after two years and the right Dr. they said she was having Panic attacks. She is on meds and they help her.
Good Luck to you !!!!

stress can make the smallest of pain and other psycial problems 10 times worse then they are. if your dr is telling you its all due to stress you need to ask him to give you something for stress and while you are a little calmer run down in your mind things that are causing you grief and get rid of them no matter what they are
