I think it depends on your method/purpose for explaining the divine. If you're telling them because you think they're a sinner and that if they don't shape up that they're going to hell, well, why would they listen to someone who is, let's say, "spiritually attacking" them in such a way?
On the other hand, if the involved people are not closed minded (which is _very_ important for any kind of debate) about the topic, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for them to understand where you're coming from, even if they may have differing opinions. Words are a powerful thing, and it may just be the way you string yours together, or certain choice words you use, that drive away those that try to you explain the divine to.
Another thing you need to consider is that not everyone has the same idea of what "God" is. A fundementalist christian or muslim lives their life by careful rules based on their idea of the divine. On the other hand, I don't attend any place of worship or read any religious texts, or really give a damn what anyone else thinks of "God", yet I'm confident at being as close or closer to the divine than he is.
My guess is he would still tell me that I "don't get it". I think it is he who does not understand.

I kind of understand how you feel because I did not feel God's presence. I wanted to believe in Him, but I just had too much doubt.
I joined into a great non-denominational Christians church where the Bible is the center of teaching. I Got baptized and I started to pray that Holy Spirit would come to my heart. And when I invited the Holy Spirit into my heart, I started to experience the Bible differently. God talks to me through the Bible.
God gives me this joy. I love Him. I am happy to be His servant. I do not understand everything in His business, but I can still run His errands. I want to be with Him in eternity.

No! I think that everyone should further explain themselves when they are speaking of the word of God. That's the problem with the world today. Not enough people have someone in their lives to help them to believe.
Even if it takes the rest of your life to get to ONE person, you should always show them the light inside YOUR heart.

I guess so!
I'm a christian, I dont push my faith on people, but if they ask I will be glad to answer. Jesus never forced himself on anyone, he shed light and hope for those who seeked G-d with all their hearts.
Faith is very personal. Its a relationship with G-d really.
I like humour also!

I don't think further explanation is useless if they want that information. If they don't get it, then explain it in a way where they do get it.

Or job is to plant little seeds in their brain. God will give it light and water. We just need to tell people about how Jesus loves them, and wants to save him from their sins. Jesus will do the rset.

I beleive that it is something that is taught by parents and family. If your not raised with believe then its kind of hard to believe. And others may have experienced trama and do not think of him the same.
But believe me somewhere in thier heads they listen and they believe, we all call on him when in need!!!!
