There is not birth control available to all who should be able to get it.

Often based on lunatic-fringe religious beliefs.

There may be a lack of education, parental involvement or both.

Teenage girls aren't always educated on the matter. There is birth control, but it costs money... something a lot of teenage girls don't have. And chances are, they don't want to go talk to a strange doctor about something that personal, so they go without. Another possibility is that they have the birth control but they don't know how to use it properly. Oh so many possibilities

You'd might be surprised to know how many teens are ignorant on sex and birth control. There is a lot of misconceptions and teens often have erroneous information about contraception.

Even when protection is used, like condoms, teens don't know how to use them correctly. Misinformation and lack of knowledge lead to higher rates of pregnancy among teens.

Unfortunately sex education in the US is lacking in quality and is often too little, too late. When I was a teen, I was in high school before I received any sex education and then only because I was in a health class that was taken as an elective.

Why are you in the religion secton with this question? If the answer is supposed to be religious, then chances are, it is a virgin birth!
Since, of course, if it could happen once, why not every day?
People do all sorts of things they CAN do but shouldn't. Teen SEX is a great example. I don't know any teenager who is mature enough to understand what huge thing they are doing to get naked with someone.
Most are clueless, and think it is a gateway to adulthood.
Well, it sort of is--since becoming a mother will either force you to grow up overnight or be a terrible mother.
Teen fathers are just as sad, since so many of them won't own their mistakes. Gifted and promising young men who DO, end up working some lousy job to buy diapers, just like gifted and wonderful young women end up-not going to France to study or to modeling school, but to Walmart to buy formula.
It is pitiful, and ruining our kids, and our culture at large.
PS-NO birth control is 100%--except complete abstinance. You can only fool Mother Nature for a little while and then ~~whammo!

This is the right category to ask this. There are so many unwanted pregnancies because the church won't let its followers use contraceptive methods, or receive sex education. In my town, a girl died for an abortion in unhealthy conditions. And only then the government told us that there are a lot of contraceptive devices that the state is distributing for free. The methods existed and were available. But nobody knew.

Many girls are afraid to go to their parents for help, or know that their parents will be angry/dissappointed that they're having sex and need birth control to begin with. Another factor is that boys usually pressure their girlfriends into having sex, maybe the boy is not responsible enough to take care of birth control on his own or at all.

The bottom line is that even though birth control is available, its not always easily accessible, especially for underage youth, be it either because they're too young to buy it or not informed enough to know they need it.

Sometimes accidents happen. Teenagers are prone to accidents. And they just wont listen. You live and you learn it doesnt have to be a bad thing, Especialy if the two kids are smart and good looling then they might bring the next president or football star or something like that. I would say rock star they have great lives, only two many hardtimes on the rise and the probabuility of becoming the next new thing is just to low.

Lack of education is a lot of it.

One of the odd things Reagan wanted to get through was mandatory birth control in schools. But it might have worked.

Because she is young an inexperienced. Too afraid to ask for birth control, boyfriend is too afraid to buy condoms, some do it because they feel unloved and think having a baby will give them someone to love them.
