Why do some U.S citizens see themselves as better than others? Why is hunting down a group of people and deporting them to a land of poverty such a thrill for them? It used to be that this was a "land of opportunity". Bring us your poor huddled masses yearning to be free.

That has all changed now. Some Americans want to separate themselves from others. This is THEIR country and immigrants have no part in it. Save the arguments of 'legal immigration". When this country was founded that concept didn't even exist. It was just immigration.

All of a sudden, politicians want to deport millions of people or take away their jobs just because they are undocumented. Since when is it a crime to want to offer a better life to your children?

Because the Illegal Immigrants are draining our hospitals, raising our taxes, getting free money from the government, they expect everything to be given to them. They also pee and poop on our spinach crops.

I realize others will say the same thing, but let me put this in a different context. A little girl who was sneaked over the border recieved a heart and lung transplant that neither she nor her parents could afford. This is a million dollar procedure that should have gone to a citizen of this country who has actually contributed to this country or will in its future. I don't mind immigrants, in fact I enjoy the diversity, but do they all have to be spanish speaking, illiterate border crossers who inevitably take jobs away from Americans (because they work under the table). Who do not pay their fare share of taxes, who bilk the hospital system which keeps having to raise everybody elses bills, because they pass those unpaid bills on to consumers. Who send their kids to schools in systems where they don't pay taxes and then demand the system not only give their illegal children an education but also spend extra money on spanish speaking teachers. Sorry, I will stick to the Asians, Europeans, and Africans who come over here and learn our language, keep their immigration paperwork current, pay their taxes, and don't break our laws.

Just for the record, I want it known that the easiest way to get rid of illegal immigrants is to heavily fine individuals, companies and corporations who hire them and enforce the law. By doing that they can't find work and therefore there is no reason to stay here and they can cross the border back home or into Canada on their own two feet the way they got here and at no expense to the taxpayer. Additionally, if they stumble across the border and a kid pops out, they have the option of leaving the kid here and returning home or taking their squalling bratito back to their ancesteral adobe.

I think alot of the problem is not the act of immigration...it is the illegal immigration of people that come to our country not seaking opportunity (which would be seen if they came her legally) but seeking to take advantage of the US. People find it offensive that illegal's get free medical care, food stamps, housing and education while our Seniors get their beneifits CUT and can't afford medicine or food. After paying into the system and taxes all their lives. People get offended when they have to pay extra for teachers to translate languages when no effort is made to learn the language of our country. People get offended when there is even the question of the US having to "Delcare" english as our native language...Did France ever have to delare french as their language???

Why is it that the USA always has to do for others? Why do we always have to put our Military out there? Does France? Russia? Norway? India? Spain? Sweaden? Canada? Why is it when ever we say enough is enough are we the bad guys? This isn't sudden. It is just a problem that is rising to the top...Where else in the world can you go illegaly and protest against ANYTHING?

Come to my counrty...learn my language, be a member at any church. Send your children to my school. Work hard, pay taxes become a citizen, llive a better life....vote. Just do it following our laws. I don't think that is too much expect or ask....

If America was a country of infinite resources this would not be an issue. However, resources and jobs being limited, America cannot support an endless wave of immigrants, obviously. Plus allowing an unchecked flux of immigrants from various areas does not promote positive change in those countries. In Mexico, for instance, if everyone just flees the country, then there will never be enough pressure to change Mexico for the better. In this case Mexico will continue to be a poverty stricken place, whose people are uneducated just to flee to America and be exploited in unfair labor practices. If the status quo continues then Mexico will continue to be a harsh living environment, and poor immigrants will ceaselessy flow into America. This does the world no good and is not a situation that can be stable longterm.

We are against illegal immigration, but not half as much as the countries the immigrants come from. Mexico cracked down hard last year against all immigration, legal and otherwise, from all central American and south American countries. Seems they have a problem feeding all the immigrants trying to make their way to the US and settling in on the way. Also just try ti immigrate illegally from say Colombia to Brazil, or Peru to Colombia, or Chile to Venezuela... see how far you get and see how severe their penalties are.

You think we are harsh? Just realize what these countries do to illegal immigrants in their countries of origin. Anyone who says we should not crack down on them is someone looking for a handout or has a family member who already is.

If you build and pay for their schools and hospitals, I am fine with it.

The reason every country limits how many poor people can come is because poor people, even if they pay all taxes they are supposed to, take more in benefits like education and health care than they pay into the system. Each one is a net loss to our schools and health care and other services.

Unlike some countries, we still do let in some poor immigrants for cultural reasons. Meaning because our country has a level of admiration for LEGAL immigrants who follow the rules and want to make more for their families.

Illegal immigrants are budget busters who want a better life at our expense and are willing to break the law to steal education funds from our children and health care funds from our sick.

Each individual illegal immigrant is a hit to the system and 12 to 20 million of them is a catastrophy. Schools and health care are failing in areas where illegals concentrate, and the impacts are reaching the heartland.

Gee, whiz, I can't imagine why that might make us anti- ILLEGAL immigration.

I don't think that immigration is the problem, the problem is the legality of said immigration. While the country may have let anyone and everyone reside here if they wished to illegally, the laws and times have changed. Now, if you want to live here you have to be held to the same standards as others. That means paying taxes for one! It is never a crime to want a better life for you and your family. It is a CRIME when, in order to achieve this dream, you commit illegal acts to do so.

Are you kidding me! What is your point here? Immigration did found this country when immigrant wanted to become AMERICANS! Learn the language, get jobs, pay taxes etc. Why come here if you are so proud of Mexico. Wave the flag in my face. Why not fix Mexico. I know I am generalizing, but i live in the central valley of Ca where immigration issues is huge. i have watched crime go up 10 fold, and it's not whites!!!!

There are reasons for immigration quotas. Not racial or cultural but mainly economic in nature. If a criminal enters your home, sidles up to you, and starts eating out of your rice bowl I think you would be justified in your refusal to accept this as normal. Economically, the U.S. is in a nose-dive. ANY competition for jobs, at all, from ANY foreigners should not be acceptable. Any social dilemma that additionally strains our social programs is not welcome. Those programs were established to deal with the needs of legitimate U.S. citizens - not parasites. When all the factories have left U.S. shores, and jobs are extremely difficult to find, will your attitude be the same as it is at present?

My, how pious! I am glad to see all these holier-than-thou law abiding people, who never park too long at a meter; never drive faster then the law allows; never ran a stop sign or stoplight, never cheated in school, never tried drugs; never smoked cigarettes or drank booze under age 18...

No, it isn't about illegal, it's about racism.

Unlike most of you pious folks, I know illegals in the US and in Mexico when they go home.

The problem is the INS. Two examples.

I had a friend, a young married woman in Las Vegas, a legal resident. After a year or two, she wanted her mom to come visit her, to see where she lived. A common human activity.

She applied for a tourist permit, and the INS turned her down, basically because she was not a rich person. So, Maria and her husband had to drive to the border and her mother came to the border from Mexico City. This is disgusting.

So, what did the INS accomplish? Not a thing, except to teach another Mexican family that if you want to come to the US, walk across and don't bother with papers.

My own niece is a national official of a political party. She was official campaign photographer for one of the candidates in the recent election. In a phrase, she is an important person in Mexico.

She applied for a visitor's permit so she could come to McAllen to visit us. Again, she was turned down because she is not rich.

So, what did the INS accomplish except to teach a VIP in Mexico that the INS deserves nothing but contempt?

With all your hypocritical piety about following the laws no matter what, though clearly most of you don't do it yourself except when it's convenient, it is stupid to apply for papers to come legally, even to visit family members who come legally.

If those 7 million illegals allegedly in the US had applied for papers in 1835 during the battle of the Alamo, not all of them would be admitted yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish they would all go home. It would destroy the economy of the United States. We deserve it.
