Absolutely true! You should never tickle your child, even making them laugh a little bit could cause stuttering issues. I remember seeing a mother tickling her little boy in the mall one day, the poor kid was laughing so hard... I called protective services. That sort of thing shouldn't happen anymore, especially with the information that is available to us now. Hopefully I stopped it in time.
Hope this helps!
.......... just kidding by the way (is it bad that I have to add this part in?)

I have heard that tickling too much as an infant can cause a stuttering problem. I tickled my son like crazy, and he does stutter a little (not much at all) but also has a hard time pronouncing certain letters and he's 4.
I had asked a doc about this and it is an old saying... but there's no proof that tickling causes it, so it may or may not. I really don't know and there's really no way to tell. But with my experience it could've been the cause.

No.That is not true.If you tickle the baby it won't have any problems with talking later.Anyway don't tickle it too much because besides fun tickling is annoying after a few moments. And don't worry.I have 7 children(ages 15,12,10,7, 5,2 and 2) - all of them have been tickled as babies(and they are still being tickled!!!:))) but they have no problems with talking.Especially the youngst one doesn't stop talking for a moment!

I don't know if it true or not, but I would not tickle a baby for more than a few seconds - I hate being tickled and if someone ten times my size was tickling me, I would hate it!

I suppose if your child has some stuttering problems, you might want to pin the blame on something. There's no reason to think there's any link, though. Kids love attention, and they love getting tickled (usually - every child is different, and their receptivity to tickling depends on their mood anyway).
This sounds like paranoia - don't stop playing with your kid just cos of an old wives tale!

That's an old wives tale that says it will cause stuttering. Of course it's not true, think about it what damage can you cause by tickling your child, besides maybe getting pee-ed on. Try not to listen to everything you hear and be a parent of your best judgement if it sounds crazy it probably is.

I don't think that is true at all. Touch is good for developing babies. They benefit from physical interaction. Many children have some speech problems as they grow up, and I doubt that any of them are caused by tickling.

it's an old wives tale and if you tickle their feet, they are supposed to have a stuttering problem when they get older. OLD WIVES TALE - Hence the word "TALE" in that?? Not true.
