Everything! In fact you should live together as well. I believe two people must really know each other and be able to connect with one another before committing. THAT'S love. And sex is a big part of connection so yes, it is important. There certainly are SOME couples out there who have stayed celibate until marriage who HAVE survived, but in general, it's a bad idea to risk it and it usually doesn't work out if you two don't connect previously.

You let go the curiosity about your partner ability in bed and can focus on other things that you believe are necessary for maintaining long term relationship. Listening ability, money management, humor, anger/ conflict management, parenting style, cooking skill (at least ONE person in house must know how to cook) are a few of many.
However, I won't suggest pre-marriage sex for minors because their inability to take the consequences (pregnancy, sexual disease, financial consequences). Do it when you know you are ready.

Like it or not,sex is a huge part of a relationship. Friendship is just as important but love dosent make two people sexually compatible. Its best to test the product before purchsing. This isnt to say sleeping around is okay, although,if your single, whats the problem. Nobodys getting hurt.

In MY opinion...
Many marriages have been ruined as the lack of chemistry in the bedroom. If you are not happy with, or the sex lacks that special chemistry, it starts to tear at the marriage....one would either stray from the frustration of a lack of connection, or the stress would be pulled into other arguments as an underlying factor.

You can eliminate the "wonder" of your wedding night! the first time can be really awkward - but I wouldn't suggest sex before marriage unless you are with the person you are going to marry. Too many unnecessary risks!

To see if the person is lousy in bed of course. You dont want to be tied down to someone who cant please you and then feel pressured to cheat! There is nothing wrong with sex before marriage these days.

sex is good before marriage because you know exactly what you're getting into and what needs improvement.

benefits: you know if your sexually compatible...for now
cons (I know you didn't ask): possible STD, possible KID (both kill!), a false sense of connection, could end a relationship if it becomes to much of an issue, may wish you hadn't and can't take it back, then the all to famous "bad sex"
