Hey, now. My best friend is a christian as is some of my co-workers. I think it's great for them. We each give the other respect for our beliefs. We don't proselytize because if we want to know about each other's religion we will ask. We have respect and common courtesy. Unfortunately, some people do not understand these concepts---but I don't get angry, I simply avoid them. I don't like rude people--regardless of what religion they are.

btw, Buddhists do not believe that Buddha was THE SAVIOR either. Not every religion feels a need for a savior. I give Buddhists the same respect that they afford to me---which is a lot. The ones I've met have truly been tolerant, polite, and compassionate people.

I'm not angry with or at Christians, but I am some what distressed by the overall lack of rational thought on the part of the majority of Christians. There are quite a few Christians that I call friends and enjoy listening to, because #1 they don't force their views on me, and #2, they have a rationally thought out logical reason for their beliefs other than "it says so right here!"

For the very reason your question is worded. You equate Atheism with Witchcraft. Wicca (the Witch Faith for lack of a better term) is a belief in various Gods. Atheism is a belief that there are no God(s). Right off the top, you have shown either a lapse in judgment in comparing the two, or, as I suspect, you meant it as a dig towards people who don't believe as you do. Christians love to quote the Bible, so please permit me to answer your question with a quote from that book, which I believe will answer all your questions in this regard: "As you sow, so shall you reap"

2000 years of Inquisitions, condemnations, murders, brutal beatings (both verbal and physical) which still go on in some quarters today, and you ask this question. Either you are blind to what your religion is doing or you are part of it. Either way, you have your answer, live with, deal with it as you will, but no matter how hard you try, you cannot escape it.

The only time I get angry with christianity is that the future isn't in an optimal mindset within them with regards to humanity.

The idea of heaven is great but the need to bring the world to a common understanding is frowned down upon and labeled. Peace on earth is called the one world government or anti-christ and that is a major flaw.

As some people pointed out, it's a reaction to the way some Christians "promote" their faith.
Often enough every word they write shows that the person in question is totally fixated on their set of beliefs and can't think straight, let alone listen to a reasonable argument, but still tries to make everybody else the same as themselves.

Maybe you wouldn't do those things, but there are Christians that do that very thing. I've seen them take it so far to call other peoples Gods/Goddess' s.hit and then get upset when the offended person retaliates in like. I've also seen them tell people that they would laugh while they sit in heaven and "all those non-believers are roasting in hell".
And, um, Buddhists don't believe Buddha is a savior... just enlightened.

Simple. Let me give you an analogy.

You are making an apple pie. A friend drops over and sees what you are doing. Your friend INSISTS that you are doing it all wrong! There is only ONE WAY to make an apple pie and if you do not make it in the way your friend demands, your pie will be a complete disaster.

Perhaps your friend is right. You will give them their due even though you've made apple pie your whole life and everyone who has eaten it has never complained and has said they enjoy it. So you ask politely for your friend's recipe. Your friend gives it to you and the next time you make apple pie you try your friend's recipe.

It's good alright but you prefer your recipe over your friends. Your family also comments that the pie is good but they like your version better. So you go back to making pie the way you've always made it.

The next time your friend comes over and sees you making pie your way, you get a diatribe of negative comments. You are told that you have been given the best pie recipe in the world. You try to explain that you in fact did make pie using their recipe but your family and you preferred your pie recipe. Not good enough! You've obviously done something terribly wrong! So you friend INSISTS once again that their recipe is the best and they will prove it by making the pie for you.

You sigh and think, "What the heck! Go ahead and make your pie your way." So you serve the pie your friend made and you get the exact same reaction. Your family and you prefer your version of the pie.

You don't want to know what happens the next time your friend comes over and witnesses you making pie your way! Literally all hell breaks loose! And suddenly, your friendship ends because this person simply cannot accept that you want to do things differently.

This analogy is precisely what I am faced with every time a fundamentalist Christian tells me that I'm going to hell. They simply cannot accept that I do not believe as they do. That my personal path towards enlightenment is different from their own. So I say, "Thanks but no thanks," and like the pie, all hell breaks loose. So...

It's not so much that we are angry with Christians. We are, without question, frustrated with them. They portray themselves as kind and loving individuals but their Christian club is an exclusive one. Their love is conditional.

In theory I don't have a problem with people believing whatever they like. But when your beliefs lead to war, violence and oppression it's another story, isn't it? I believe in freedom of religion, but when children are raised to follow one faith they don't really have that freedom. My belief is that if people were left alone in that sense until they were adults very few would chose to follow any religion, and as such there wouldn't be any wars over it.

Buddha is not trying to control us. Atheists in the USA talk about the Xian god and Xianity so much because of the profound impact Xianity has on them. Xianity is in our face everywhere we go. Everywhere Xians are attempting barbaric takeovers in an attempt to strip us of our rights. Everywhere in the USA there are Xians trying to destroy the wall between church and state. Xians trying to make belief in god a requirement and the rules of the bible our laws. Xians forget that the last time the church and state were one is referred to as The Dark Ages. It is a major concern. Xians trying to ban the teaching of evolution in schools. Xians trying to force religion on our children. Xians burning books. Xians showing up at gay funerals with signs that read "God hates fags". Xians shooting abortion doctors and blowing up clinics. Xians (Pat Robertson for one) grouping us morally with child molesters, murderers, and thieves. Xians like Former President George Bush saying we're not even citizens. Xians everywhere are in an all out attack to destroy us and they have the audacity to think we would not be concerned? Atheists do not go knocking on doors telling Xians that they are stupid and they're going to hell and how sorry we feel for them. Atheists don't tell Xians what to think and what to believe in. The Xian fundies claim they are being assaulted by us, yet they are the ones who do all the assaulting.
