Intelligent Design claims to make a similar argument, but is really creationism is disguise.

There are two aspects of Evolutionary Science that Creationists have problems (I make the distinction between Christians and Creationists because I know several Christians who have no problem with Evolution). (a) Mutation is through random chance, and (b) the perpetuation of a mutation is through the success of a creature to have children. In short, there is no 'direction' to it, it is based on chance as much as anything else. Creationists cannot conceive of a world where God is not directly controlling the outcome.

The best compromise is...

God created the Universe and all of the natural laws within that world, and then set it in motion with little or no control. .The story of creation in the bible is an allegory and not literal. Evolution is real, but still operated under the laws of the universe as God created them

I can't see what's wrong with the concept of natural selection and evolution being controlled by God. Things change all the time - animals adapt and change, the land is eroded by the sea or built up by volcanoes etc., climates change and so on.

[thinks... In fact if everything in the World was exactly as it was thousands of years ago and no change had occurred at all, that would be a good indication that God actually exists and that he made everything the way he wanted and kept it like that]

It's not like everything is exactly like God first made it - so whats the big deal with evolution? There is no reason why Christians shouldn't embrace the fact that it is a natural process started by and controlled by God which enables the creatures and plants he created to change and adapt to a changing world.

I think I can see that polytheism and atheism is one and the same.

If something or somebody created God, or if God created another God, then God is not everywhere and eternal, all-powerful and all-knowing. A notion that most people do not hold. Most people believe that they can appeal to God at anytime, anywhere and have God hear them and know that God hears all.

"men cannot but think that God is everywhere, that is, omnipresent [in all places at all times]; likewise omniscient [all knowing] and omnipotent [all powerful]. Everyone praying to God, therefore, implores Him from the heart to lead him because He can lead him; thus he acknowledges the divine omnipresence, omniscience and omnipotence, doing so in turning his face to the Lord; thereupon the truth flows in from the Lord" (Divine Providence n. 157).

evolution is a fact.. everyone needs to face it.... maybe the old guys in the desert who wrote the Bible got it a little wrong and God making man smart enough to discover the truth is God's way of correcting the error... don't know

Sure. Remember, some Christians believe in evolution anyway.
I agree with GLH

That's not a good compromise to some, I'm sure. Just stop arguing and let others believe as they like.

God made each species individually, with the capacity to adapt to its environment as necessary.
