They will be spitting up cotton balls.
Great idea! Better yet.... give them some of that gum that makes ya have to go to the bathroom too! Just accidentally forget to have any toilet paper in the house.
Instead of candles step on a stink bomb or two.
You will be the topic of conversation for years!
(No need to send me an invite... I think I will be out of town that day!)

No it is not worng to invite co-workers over for dinner. However, when you are home in your own environment you usually tend to act a little differently then when you are at the office. Depending on the type of people you invite over and the office be warned that they may talk about your house, your kids and whatever else went good/wrong when they were over to other co-workers. Yet this is an extreme situation but every office is different.

As far as feeding them nasty food, are you crazy? Why would you serve dry, salty food and whats with the no drinking? Im really confused.....You should not apply rules for the evening. When you are about to sit down and eat a good host would ask everyone if they need refills or any other refreshements BEFORE they start to eat dinner. That way no one will be disrupted during dinner. I would get a bottle of wine and you never know some one could in fact bring one with them. Then I would have something like iced tea and or soda if they dont want an alcoholic drink.

I think you intention is good but you need to work on your execution.

is this a joke? If I was invited over for dinner and you told me you don't believe in drinking anything during dinner, I would excuse myself and get a glass of water from the kitchen.....if you were obnoxious I'd go home. Are you talking about serving non-alcoholic beverages only at dinner, that's ok.

If you wish to make new friends, and want to be a good host; you will provide at least water during the dinner for your guests. (I assume you mean ANY drinks and not just alchoholic ones.)
You cannot force your beliefs or restrictions on others, unless it is a religious requirement (like Jewish people will not be able to serve a pork item in a kosher kitchen.) If this is a religious standard of some sort, then the correct thing to do is to forewarn your guests of this restriction, and either allow them to bring their own drinks, or take the option of bowing out altogether.

some will ask questions like why you believe in that and some will look at you weird and how can you eat dry salty foods with nothing to drink are you trying to make friends or choke them?

If they are eating salty stuff let them drink all they want. Give them the glass of whatever it is they're gonna drink while they are eating. Most people drink and eat at the same time. You want them to like you, make them feel comfortable and at home.

That is crazy! Why do you believe in not drinking with a meal?
Where are you from? No, it won't go over well. I have a fear of choking when I eat, I would not be happy. No, you won't make many new friends. Yes, it is wrong. You must enjoy torturing people or getting a "buzz" out of your yahoo audience.

Just tell them that they can partake all they wish AFTER the meal, you shouldn't have any problems as long as they aren't jerks. If they ARE jerks and don't abide by the rule, they wouldn't make good friends anyway.

You ARE speaking of ALCOHOL, right? Not letting them drink ANYTHING is dumb, so I HOPE you mean alcohol...

no, I love to drink before dinner, it gives me a buzz that I will loose during dinner time. Some people can't drink at all unless they eat because they are scared of getting drunk In public. You should let them decide when to drink.

It's wrong. If you want to make friends you are going about it the wrong way. Invite them over for very flavored food with spices and such and great things to drink like wine, juice something.
