Those that believe are sure that God "is", and those that do not believe are sure that God "is not"---why then is the energy spent (or wasted) trying to neutralize opposing beliefs? Both evidence and faith based beliefs require understanding to know that the key is coexistence of the realms--what is the point if we cannot see this?

This question does not endanger human intellect nor does it propose to restrain ones right to opinion--the question is why do we strive so intently to alter the perception of the opposing view?

Theists try to prove their side because (by and large) they genuinely believe what they are saying and are concerned for the well-being of their fellow humans.
Atheists try to debunk the beliefs of the theists because they believe the theists are dangerously delusional, and because they are forced to share a world with grown adults who deny the evidence of careful, rational scientific inquiry and who still believe in childish fantasies like magic (whitewashed by calling them "miracles") and invisible spirits.

Atheists believe in no longer something, maximum of them do no longer ask WHY we are right here, yet we ask HOW we got here right here... And purely simply by fact we layout issues, and we’re used to varieties doesn’t' recommend we could desire to continuously have a dressmaker; our techniques isn't appropriate... attempt to believe interior the international around you, and fact and actual data, and you will adventure that one would not prefer for there to be a god to comprehend existence, or get exhilaration from it.... I do not see that MANY are objecting, just that when they," A lot" react both ways. But I will agree that many personalize Him. When a discussion starts there is so much myth and mystery. The religion's all have made God's laws that have been and are still being disproved today.
Every knows viruses mutate or evolve fast enough to be recorded but mans evolution is disputed. "Weird".

My philosophy is believe what you want to believe. Just don't use your beliefs as a justification to impinge on the rights of fellow citizens that don't share your beliefs.
Often times I see some Christians on this site try to use "proof" to the existence of their God to justify thier opinions being mandate in this country. That's the only time I would act to debunk their proof.
But being Agnostic, the truth of my belief is that there is really no way to know either way.

Because everyone wants to be right, and no one wants to be wrong.... this pretty much applies to most ideas and beliefs that are tossed around in society.
However, I think instead the question(s) that we ALL should be asking is, "Why do we care so much to try and prove or disprove our beliefs, when most of what we believe is based on what other people tell us anyway."

You have a point - we should all just chill. Whether there is some dude up in heaven or not is really totally irrelevant to our everyday lives. Only the delusional claim to have a hotline to god's thinking, so when all is said and done, we're all on our own anyway. Either god is unknowable or uninterested or does not exist - what difference does it make?

To be honest, narcissism is the reasoning for the clash between the two "realms." However, you say evidence AND faith based beliefs. Are you trying to say that there is no evidence in faith based beliefs?

I agree. You have a great point.
Believers believe that it is their duty to teach others about God.
Non-believers will only believe things that they can physically see, touch or smell. Since they can't do that with God they can't let well alone and want to argue their lack of faith.

I only repsond with my analysis when those christians post that either "There is no such thing as atheism" or "God does exist and you're just stupid"
I agree that I won't convert anyone to the freedom and joy that is atheism, but if you attack my knowledge, I will verbaly smash them.

What would you suggest? People just keep to themselves and not search for an ultimate answer to one of the all-time greatest mysteries ever????
That's like asking 'Why do people wish to know why they exist?' come on man...
