Go to priceline.com. Click on the link where you name your own price. Choose the area and price you want and they'll do the rest. I booked with them earlier this week and I got a room for $85. The hotel is located downtown and its average price is $300.

Not exactly New York City - but I would stay right on the other side of the Lincoln Tunnel at the Comfort Suites in North Bergen, NJ.
Nice hotel, free deluxe continental breakfast.

I was able to stay at the Hilton for $130 through hotwire. You should definitely be able to get a 3 star hotel for $99 ;)

Go with Hotwire. They have the lowest prices and if it says a 4 star hotel, then that is what you get. I have booked over a dozen times with them and never been disapointed.

No, doubt it- but think of the entire trip and dont go crazy saving a few dollars and ruin the trip. There are lots of turist traps you can avaid to even it out.

Not in any neighborhood worth staying in.
Go to Rockland County or NJ.
