Education, healthcare, nursing, care for the dying, many rights for women that were not previously theirs. These and more we can thank faith for.

No religion teaches bad things.
It's the follower's who mess up every thing.
The one who don't believe in religion is the one who have known the foolish followers who know less and talk much (like us ) but they will have to take initiative to know what religion/ faith/ philosophy really is by reading the religious books and knowing the right meaning instead of listening to the less known people.

The reasoning behind looking at the bad is because most religions say that their God is loving and kind. Just an all around good guy. But if these Gods(of any religion) are so kind and loving, why do they do such horrible things to their "creations"
Death, tourture, burning in hell. These are not the kind of things that come from loving Gods. Its not really the negetive things that we look at, its the contridictions to the good things that are looked upon

A lot of people (not all) are negative by choice. They choose to be the way they are.

I won't pick on any religions...I will talk about the people of my faith that have "goofed up."

There have been people that claimed to be Christian. In Gal. 5 it talks about the fruit of the spirit...bad and good.

You will know a tree by it's fruit. Someones actions speaks volumes over what they say, any day of the week.

I don't concentrate on those that have been ugly using the name of God or Jesus. They will be judged by God. It's not my place to judge them. Only God knows their heart.

I only know what is important is that I glorify God / Jesus and His kingdom.

May everyone find the grace of the living God and His Son Jesus!

Because, when trying to make the point that religion A is better then religion B, or person A is right about religion B being "stupid and a waste of time", it's easier to make your case with the negatives of the opposing religion then the positives.

Because the blind faith causes the negatives.

As far as the positives go, people can and do do positive things WITHOUT belief in a fairytale.

If you only do good things for others because you are scared of a non-existent god - you have problems!

Because all religions claim to be bastions of morality, ethics, and compassion. When they also sanction behaviors or tenets that are antithetical to these principles, the hypocrisy is rather glaring.

Examples, if you will.

Edit: The examples you've provided are the triumphs of people. Show me what triumphs were made in the name of religion and I'll change my tune.

Edit: Who said anything about fear? These are acts of humanity. Nothing more, nothing less.

Pure ignorance. People are afraid of the unknown. It's easier to catagorize things and be judgemental than it is to get educated.
