an ALL PROTEIN DIET, is typically not healthy because most protein comes from meats, which contain high fat and high cholosterol, or dairy and most dairy contains much cholesterol and fat. But a HIGH protein diet is very healthy . Im on a high protein diet for anxiety issues and have to contain about 70 g's a day. I use south beach protein bars which contain 19 g's and all over healthy for you meal bar. Also, working out with the protein is the best diet method because protein builds muscle and helps lose fat. But if your sitting on your butt all day eating protein your going to gain mass weight. So make sure your working out. Good luck, and protein is always the way to go, Just watch the red meats, they are not very healthy for you at all!

Oboy. Where to start? The human body is a complex machine that evolved on a diet of protein, carbohydrate and fat, and the machine needs all three to function effectively. Eliminating carbohydrates leads to malnutrition; without fiber your digestive sytem will not function well; and consider that 20% of our carb intake goes to fuel the brain.

The premise behind high- or all-protein diets is that without carbs that usually provide fuel for energy, the body will turn to burning fat, and indeed it does. But it also uses muscle tissue. Your heart is a muscle. Enough said? Additionally, intake of fat contributes to coronary heart disease, elevating your risk of heart attack.

Diets heavy in meat, especially red meat, have been implicated in colon cancer. Other side effects of this diet include osteoporosis, constipation, hedaches, muscle weakness and bad breath, a result of your body's being in ketosis.

Hope that's enough information. There's lots more detail available on the Web.

eating an all protein diet is like trying to drive your car but all you do is put oil in it.... no gas, no power steering fluid, no brake fluid, never change the air filter, etc... it just doesn't work.

your body is a complex machine that requires a lot to work properly, only giving it protein would be very dangerous and could seriously damage your organs and digestive systems.

it's not that the protein is bad for you, it's that the body needs so much more!.. your brain runs off of carbohydrates, and without them it has only one alternative.. keatones (spelling?).. and the only place the body can get them is by braking down your liver! just like it does in advanced alcoholism. so make sure you give your body what it needs.

To really understand the bodies response to this diet. Look up the horrible results of the Adkins diet.
