I have been trying to find a best priced diamond ring on High street and Internet. I know the basics about diamond, the colour, cut, clarity, etc. For the same spec, Platinum 1ct diamond ring on the highstreet costs £7-8K, but only £5k on the internet. I want to know why they costs so differently? isn't the spec of the diamond determines the price?

Thanks.

Three main things:

Quality
Clarity
Cut

The other things are to cover the cost of overhead, middleman fees, and name/reputation of store.

My whole father used to work in the diamond business. At the stores they are getting the diamonds from the diamond sellers, who are getting it from the diamond cutters who are getting it from the source. So all those middle men have to make money. On the internet today there are so many people who are getting it directly from the diamond seller so it cuts the cost. No middle man to be paid. By the way if you know anyone who works in the diamond business or somone who knows someone ask for the favor of getting you a deal. I got married in June and a friend got me a stunning diamond ring at 1.43 ct at a value of 7500, and my husband paid 3700. Its either find connections, or find a dealer online who gets it straight from the buyers. Here is my ring: click on this link below and then click on our picture it will take you to a gallery where you can see my hand wit the ring close up. http://www.onlysimchas.com/galleries/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewgallery&SimchaID=52829&galleryid=33690&simchatypeid=0

The internet cuts out the middle man but my advice to you is seeing as you are looking at splashing out that much money why not go to Holland go to the diamond factory pick ut your own it's amazing and a lot less expensive than the British high street prices. A friend of mine did this and had the sparkler mounted on her own designed ring. Good luck with your search.

A lot of the retail stores that you buy diamonds in offer lifetime warranties. Does the Internet sellers offer this?? It is good if your diamond ever gets lost, they will replace it. Plus, some of the more expensive diamonds might be certified where as the others aren't. It also matters who cut the diamond and where it is coming from.

The markup on diamonds is extremely high so overhead makes a big difference. Also if you're talking set diamonds, The settings differ tremendously. A good setting can make a big difference in price over a run of the mill setting.

Many internet diamond sellers are wholesalers, rather than retailers. Also, they do not have overheard costs that a regular store has. We bought my ring off of eBay and it is absolutely gorgeous (and new). We got it for about 3/4 of the cost we would have paid in a store. Just make sure it is a reputable dealer. Check the better business bureau and if it is eBay, make sure you read all of their feedback.

You really gotta watch it - you can have two diamonds that look the same size, but aren't the same quality. You can have a ring you like for $5,000 and find one that looks just like it for under $1,000 (double all this for pounds and add a bit more - I'm in CDN $s.). Above all, don't worry about the cost. A true woman doesn't care how much her ring is - honestly - it's that it is from you what matters.

Like everyone's said, you have a lot of middle men who have to make money. You'll even notice a difference though, if you go somewhere that doesn't have the fancy storefront, chandeliers, and salespeople working on commission - every little bit jacks up the price.

really. the adaptation between darkish meat and chicken is like nighttime and day. maximum folk have a call. Mine is chicken yet fortuitously my brothers continually fought over the turkey legs so I were given all the chicken i ought to deal with. each little thing on a turkey is basically darkish meat except the breast and the wings.
