Welfare is for the LEGALS. Illegals are people without proper documentation, cannot even apply for any financial help. Most of illegals have two jobs and pay taxes.
Illegals get NOTHING, just pay and pay, work long backbreaking hours.
As for healthcare, I've paid all my medical bills and I pay taxes too.
It's well known US citizens hire us, because there is too much work, and too few workers.

There are a billion answers to this. Come to the Napa Valley where over half the kids in schools are hispanic/latino. Sure the parents pick grapes. Nothing wrong with that. Check out the cooking line in your favorite restaurant, they work there too. I've known some nice people, and some horrifically snotty ones. Don't judge too harshly, I'm of German descent and I've detassled corn! My friend picked blueberries. It's just a job for money.

Alot of your illegal hispanic immigrants are currently working in construction, lawn care, and manufacturing. However, what every one needs to realize, is most of these illegals can produce documentation showing their eligibilty for employment. These documents ( resident alien cards, driver's licenses, social security cards) are usually forged. They use false social security numbers and claim 5 or more dependents on their W4 to avoid paying taxes. Eventually the social security administration catches that the ssn #'s don't match the names on file in the ss admin records, the social security admin will at this point notify the employer thtat the individual needs to contact the ss office to verify their identity. If the individual does not resolve this matter within 30 days, the employer must terminate their employment

Immigrants And The Jobs They Take
While the debate continues over whether immigrants are good or bad for the U.S. culture and economy, the fact is they have carved out niches in the U.S. labor market -- often doing the sorts of tasks that native-born Americans refuse to do for themselves.
Those who are foreign-born make up about 9 percent of the U.S. population.
Immigrant men tend to take jobs as tailors, waiters and assistants, private household and restaurant cooks, dressmakers, housekeepers, and agricultural graders and sorters.
Foreign-born women gravitate to such tasks as production samplers and weighers, housekeepers, tailors, apparel and fabric workers, foreign-language teachers, cleaners and servants, and even political science teachers.
Nearly 59 percent of U.S. male tailors are foreign-born, and nearly 46 percent of women tailors immigrated to the U.S.
Close to 40 percent of foreign-language teachers in the U.S. came from abroad.
Of the 650,000 physicians in the U.S., 160,000 came from other countries -- with a surprising 26,000 from India, one of the world's largest producers of doctors.
Experts say that the success of many immigrants in the U.S. hinges on such factors as their legal status, their education and how much money they had in their pockets when they arrived here.

The rest are stuck in the kitchens of your favorite restaurants. Or babysitting your kids. Building your homes. Working all the jobs noone else wants. It just shows how brainwashed American people are. Welfare is for the lazy legal americans. There is more work in the US than people willing to do it.

Yes. Here in Portland they are employed putting up sheet rock, installing furnaces and other construction jobs. Yard care and night cleaning crews in stores. Although recently several night crews have been fired recently for not working enough and for stealing the merchandise. Others are working under the table and NOT paying taxes. All illegals are getting free health care from emergency rooms.

I didn't realize that the figure was so low. If that is true I would say that the rest are working in meat packing factories, landscape companies, in restaurants as the cleaning part, mega farm hands , stable hands, maids, janitors and municipal cleaning. That would just be some guesses.

I don't think that 2% is correct. They are also doing construction, Forestry, wildland firefighting, janitorial, food service, domestic, service, and many high skilled jobs. We could do a lot to improve things if we held the employers accountable. Why do you think Bush wants to let them stay and work? Could it be that his financial supporters are profiting off of exploiting their labor?

We need dish-bot, bed-bot, potty-bot, floor-bot, lettuce-bot. This is the 21st century, flying cars 'por favor'. Ned Ludd and John Henry are dead and buried, time to get with the times. Automated production brings low cost-per-unit. Keep the foreign aid as such, and build the border fence..
